Dinners made easy with Blue Apron

Blue Apron

Since we all know how busy the weeks can get, I’m excited to share one of our new favorite dinner helpers, Blue Apron. Whether you are busy planning your wedding, you’re newlyweds looking to try new recipes, or perhaps running your own business and no time to get to the grocery store, there are so many reasons why I’ve fallen in love with Blue Apron. What is Blue Apron? Blue Apron lets you learn to make new recipes and cuisines so you can get out of your dinner rut of making the same old dishes or relying on take out. Blue Apron does all the work for you and delivers all the farm-fresh ingredients you need, right to your doorstep, in exactly the right proportions. No trips to the grocery store, no waste from unused ingredients and my favorite – no time spent trying to figure out what you are going to make for dinner! I really loved that I got to create new chef-designed recipes at home (things I wouldn’t have tried to cook on my own!) with their meals.

Blue Apron recipes are delivered in a refrigerated box so ingredients will stay fresh even if you’re not at home when your package arrives. They offer two types of plans – the 2-person plan and the family plan. Jason and I tested the 2-Person Plan. The 2-Person plan (the price for this plan is $9.99 per person per meal and shipping is free) sets you up with one delivery a week, each with three inventive meals for two. You fill out a short questionnaire on their site and you will be sent a curated menu of three recipes based on your dietary preferences. For our week, we tried the following: Pork Dan Dan Noodles, Pan-Roasted Chicken and Fresh Cavatelli Pasta. The Family Plan is perfect for feeding a family of four. With this plan you can opt to receive one or two deliveries per week, each delivery consisting of two meals to be served family-style. The price for this plan is $8.74 per person per meal.

Cooking the meals were fun! Each meal took about 40 minutes to make and I’m happy to share that we had success with each meal! I loved that all the measurements were already taken care of, I just had to do the chopping and then cooking. :) All the ingredients are fresh and sourced from quality local suppliers and artisans. My favorite meal was the Pork Dan Dan Noodles! Something I would never have made on my own but both Jason and I loved – and how pretty are those watermelon radishes on top?! A new fave (and pretty!) veggie we discovered. :)

Blue Apron also offers a large selection of recipes and is always adding new dishes to their menu every week. I’ve already been eyeing a few other Blue Apron Recipes including their Chicken Mole, Spiced Chickpea Burgers and the Miso Yuzu-Glazed Cod. Blue Apron is available nationwide, shipping to over 80% of the country and there’s no commitment – you can skip or cancel the service at any time!
