I’m always excited to share gorgeous bridal shower ideas and today’s is one of the most lovely I’ve seen – plus it’s all part of a new feature from the lovely Christy of One Handspun Day! Desert Blooms is a bridal shower concept that was inspired by the Southwest and is infused with whimsical bohemian girly glam. Christy set the bridal shower in a cactus garden that was filled with quirky finds such as a covered wagon and chairs painted with donkeys. Cassandra of Borrowed Blu and Christy worked together to create all of the DIY details and to make this bridal shower an event that could be recreated or easily adapted to other events.
Love these ideas? Christy now offers a DIY Guidebook you can purchase on her site to recreate this entire shower! The guidebook includes everything you need to recreate this entire look – including the recipes, how to dye sand, painted flatware, rope wrapped terracotta pots, dreamcatchers, prickly pear mini margaritas and more! Plus she has tips on ideas to turn this event into a baby shower, wedding or party for your little one! So super fun! Big thanks to Katie Pritchard Photography for the gorgeous photos!
The florals in this shoot were created by Primal Flower. We had a vision of terrariums bursting with sunset colored flowers and Primal Flower brought that vision to life even more beautifully than we could have imagined. They even put together a lovely boutonniere and bouquet to show how Desert Blooms could be used for a wedding.
We dyed sand and used it to create the fun Aztec-inspired patterned table runner, which ended up being one of my favorite details in this shoot.
I loved these boho woven chargers and Christy will be sharing the DIY to create these later today on GWS!
For the dessert station we simply embellished a store-bought cake and cupcakes with feathers and ready-made fondant.
Things got a little tricky with the belle of our dessert station – the hand spun sugar tumbleweeds, but they were worth the time spent over the stove and looked so darling perched in small glass pots of colored sugar.
Potted cacti make perfect favors in these custom rope wrapped terracotta pots.
And a fun video of the behind the scenes of this shoot from The Yodsukars
And if you would love to recreate this idea for a bridal shower you are hosting – or maybe baby shower or other party – you can find all the details to recreate this look in the DIY Guidebook for the Desert Blooms Shoot. Christy’s next DIY Guidebook will be for a whimsical Marie Antoinette inspired wedding that will be released in early May. Can’t wait and congrats to Christy on this fun idea!
