Botanical-Inspired Restaurant Wedding: Desiree + Joel

Modern Botanical Wedding

According to their wedding designer, Jaime from Wild Heart Events, Desiree + Joel embody that fun, quirky kind of love. Desiree, who did all their amazing florals and Joel, who works at Santa Barbara’s hippest coffee shop, The French Press, wanted a wedding that was lush and modern, but above all: affordable.

To help keep costs to a minimum, Desiree did all of her own florals utilizing bottles saved from Joel’s coffee shop. And friends and family came together to take on roles such as officiant, baker, and calligrapher – too fun! D + J requested that all guests wear black, which helped keep the look of the event streamlined + clean, and allowed all the lovely decor to really pop. For their venue, they chose Shelter Social Club’s Sama Sama Kitchen; a perfect spot for their reception with a brick and ivy back patio where guests ate dinner under cafe lights and then danced the night away. But don’t just take our word for it! See the day unfold firsthand in the gorgeous captures below by Cara Robbins Studio

Desiree shares, My love for plants and growing things in my personal/everyday life paved a clear design path for myself and Joel. I wanted to translate my real life into my wedding day. Sama Sama was also the place we had dinner the night he proposed, and is our favorite restaurant.
