If you’ve ever watched an episode of Little People, Big World, you’ve more than likely fallen in love with the scenic backdrop of beautiful Roloff Farms, and have maybe gotten to know Jeremy Roloff and his beautiful now-wife, Audrey, along the way.
These two were married on the farm last year and decided to celebrate their first anniversary with a gorgeous photoshoot captured by Cassie Rosch. Aside from agreeing to take yearly anniverary photos Audrey tells us, There are a few things Jeremy and I decided we would do every year to commemorate our anniversary. The first is taking a trip, even if it’s just for the day, to get away and celebrate our marriage. The second, is writing each other letters to be read the following year, and reading the letters we wrote to each other the previous year. On our honeymoon we wrote letters to each other that we sealed and saved to be read on our one year anniversary. It was so special to read our newly married words, just one year later.
Their session started off casually, as the cute duo frolicked through the property’s forest.
Then, they got the chance to feel like they were getting married all over again! Audrey wore a stunning Leanne Marshall dress, a necklace from The HeyDay Store and rocked bombshell hair + makeup by Powder, Inc.
Selva Floral crafted an amazingly beautiful bouquet for Audrey to carry, featuring the prettiest fall palette and lots of great texture.
When asked if they have any advice for couples for the first year of marriage, Audrey said, I’m stubbornly confident that there are still people in pursuit of covenant marriages; Marriages that are undividedly devoted, completely committed, persistently selfless, value-centered, joy-filled, and love-based.
Covenant marriages are irreplaceable and indispensable. My husband and I crave that kind of marriage, and we deeply desire to do and be the things that will attain it. Therefore, we’ve established a simple rhythm that continues to save and grow our marriage, and we hope to share it with as many people as we can. This rhythm is something we adopted form our pre-marital counseling with the couple that married us. One of the things we learned form them that stuck with us the most, was something they called their, “marriage journal.” It’s a journal containing five questions that they ask each other and record each week. The questions are simple, but paramount for hedging against conflict, and fostering intimacy. They have “marriage journals” dating back to the early years of their marriage. It’s something that they have committed to as a way of growing, protecting, and strengthening their marriage.
My heart leaped at the idea of a journal that would strengthen and record the growth of our love. So we decided to take on this rhythm with a “Roloff flare.” We call it our, “Navigator’s Council,” which is taken from our favorite book that we vowed to read together every year, “A Severe Mercy.”
Each week we ask each other a series of questions that we came to a consensus on during our honeymoon. Many of them are similar to the “marriage journal” questions that our premarital counselor’s urged us to use, but we added / subtracted / changed a few.
We’re just in love with these stunning photos, particularly that beautifully dramatic shot above!
Thank you so much, Audrey + Jeremy, for sharing this amazing time in your lives with us! We wish you two so much love + happiness!
And thanks to the amazing Cassie Rosch for the gorgeous photos!
