When a couple says they want a wedding that mixes flamingos, with retro Americana cool, a splash of Oz with India, we say bring it on!, said the designer + planner behind today’s totally amaze wedding – Susie from Knot & Pop. Sounds like the most fun wedding style inspiration, don’t ya think? The aim was to create a day that fused the cultures of India and the West, mixing bright colors with neutrals and bits of sea foam green to give the setting a modern, yet beachy feel. We love all the ways tradition was blended with pure fun + whimsy, and how the entire setting feels like a perfect match for the outgoing, adorable couple that Pinky + Mike are together!
From the groom, The inspiration came from our love for all things beach, kitsch and fun. It all started with a pair of Don Featherstone flamingo lawn ornaments that I bought for Pinky last Christmas, from there we came up with the idea of a kitschy 50’s Floridian extravaganza. Pinky is a glamorous chick, so this theme provided the perfect stage for the glitzy side of her personality to shine (check out her evening gown, Marilyn eat your heart out!). I love a bit of pomade and a sharp suit too, and arriving in a vintage 1959 Vauxhall Victor, our theme was set nicely!
Thanks so much to Matt Parry for these beautiful images from P + M’s day and love and high fives to the newlyweds on a perfectly executed + super fun day!
Pinky’s henna, jewelry, and traditional Indian wedding dress are all insanely stunning…
Mike: So many to choose from… Seeing Pinky dressed like a queen in her traditional wedding dress for the first time from behind the Antharpat (cloth screen that covers the grooms face when the bride enters). She looked amazing!
Pinky: To pin point one memorable moment is very difficult. I can’t believe how Mike had thrown himself into the depths of a culture he was so new to. It was touching! It was an emotionally charged day with family and friends who had travelled from far and wide! Would it be when we had a fly by (again and again) together with wing walkers when we made our grand entrance to the evening reception! Would it be the Fresh Pinks rap by my maids of honour Jo and Claire! Or our first dance as a married couple!
This wedding looks SO, so fun!
From Knot & Pop, The décor mixed fringe garlands with pom pom honeycomb and felt balls, flamingos, gold painted pineapples – a riotous mix of rustic meets fun modern details. We’re ALL about it! And below, we put together a fun collection of flamingo + pineapple details for your wedding or your home!

We’re so loving the playful, carnival-like vibe of the reception tent!
From Susie, Gorgeous tropical inspired flowers, including native Australian flowers, sat in painted and crush glitter jam jars for eye-popping, bright and bold displays. We created bespoke signage, including a backdrop for the DJ booth with Pinky’s favourite song ‘Pump Up The Jam’ emblazoned onto palm tree wallpaper, with the bar named after Mike and Pinky, surrounded by a wall of hanging palm leaves.
YEY The amazing Susie and the team from Knot & Pop!
Planning a wedding in the UK whilst living in Australia was potentially a logistical nightmare. However, we engaged a wedding planner, which turned out to be a stroke of genius. We worked with Susie from Knot & Pop and she helped turn our vision into a reality. The organisation that comes with a professional wedding planner is priceless! Also, don’t scrimp on a photographer, just take a look at our pics, Matt Parry did an amazing job at capturing the essence of the day!

Love love love! The flamingos are adorable and the reception setup looks sensational :)
A beautiful wedding with absolutely amazing colors!
Lovely wedding! Beautiful photography!
What a glorious riot of colours and emotions captured here – the car, the planes and the flamingos just give it that wonderful lift. I thought for one moment the couple, who seem to be having lots of fun were in a tea plantation until I noticed the heads of wheat. Very well thought out and how spectacular is that marquee? Certainly a wedding you wouldn’t forget in a hurry.
Fantastic colours and images
