Italy’s fashion sweetheart + contributing editor to Vogue, Erica Pelosini, and Dutch shoe designer, Louis Leeman, have been vacationing in Capri every summer for as long as they can remember. So it was pretty much a given that as soon as Louis proposed, one decision was already made: they knew they wanted to exchange their vows in this dreamy Italian setting that has become such a special place to them. Erica wanted the wedding to feel very Capri, but at the same time wanted plenty of whimsical + bohemian touches to reflect her and her lifestyle, blended into the natural environment of their surroundings. The festivities spanned over a full weekend, and celebrities like Oliva Palermo, Christie Brinkley, and some of the top names in Italian fashion were in attendance. Erica + Louis’ wedding planner, Diana of Sugokuii Events, shares more about the design of their beautiful day with us below:
We didn’t want the wedding to feel too “manicured” or “over the top” but have a whimsical fairytale aspect to it while celebrating Capri. As her wedding planner, we specialize in scouting unique locations in Capri for weddings – and when we showed her the somewhat abandoned garden and park/forest setting belonging to a former cloister – she and Louis were sold the moment they saw it.Â
Erica and her bridesmaids got ready at the super chic JK Capri Hotel, where they also had a bridesmaid luncheon, where they got dressed up in the loveliest dresses designed by Mary Katrantzou.
The night before the wedding, guests were treated to a welcome dinner under the lemon trees where Erica wore the most beautiful, floaty bohemian blue dress…so in love!
Erica’s wedding dress was custom designed for her by her friend Peter Dundas of Pucci in Florence. Just stunning…
Each guest was given a balloon with a tiny message to release the balloon after the couple say I do. The balloons were tied to old school Italian lollipops (big size lollipops). It was a religious ceremony – they had no altar however, we decided to use the two natural orange trees as their “altar” instead, which they stood in front of. We felt it was more organic and natural to the environment of Capri – which we wanted to always emphasize throughout.
Erica + Louis chose The Rolling Stones’ She’s a Rainbow for their recessional.
