Alexa + Evan met in Boston at their first design job out of college — since then, they’ve lived in Philadelphia, and now Brooklyn. Evan is a footwear designer, and Alexa is a fashion designer, so it comes as no surprise that they had quite the vision for their big day!
Alexa shares We both have an affinity for all things clean, minimal and modern, so together we designed and planned every aspect of our wedding. Although we live in Brooklyn, my grandma is too old to travel so we knew we want to have it in my home state of Ohio. Evan is also from Michigan so we liked the Mid-West location. We designed all the labeling, signage and paper for the wedding, as well as brewing our own special beer for the day, making all the concrete vases and cheesecake stands. Our venue, The Piggery at Anna Dean Farm, was a brilliant blank slate with tons of white walls, concrete floors and beautiful natural light.
Ready to see what the wedding of these two designers looks like? Warning: It’s BEAUTIFUL. Now, onto the details captured by Suzuran Photography!
Let’s take a moment to appreciate this gorgeous gown by Sarah Seven Orleans from Lovely Bride NYC. Modern, cool, and utterly STUNNING.
To complement Alexa’s minimal gown + sleek design aesthetic, Bouquet Studio put together this simple + darling bouquet.
THAT ROOM!! Holy smokes! To transform the white-walled space, they brought in a ton of greenery to line the aisle + added black accents for a clean + minimalistic approach.
We had so many favorite memories of the day. We opted to forgo the popular first look and we could not be happier about our decision. Something about that moment of seeing Evan at the end of the aisle, surpassed any daydream I could ever imagine. Our handwritten vows were another special part that us and our guests really loved; plenty of laughter and tears. Another very special moment to myself and Evan were the special moments with my grandmother before and after the ceremony; we are so close to her and we feel so lucky to have her share our day. Definitely happy tears were shed!
Processional: Heroes by David Bowie; This Must be the Place by The Talking Heads
Recessional: Sun in the Morning by Future Islands
First Dance: Love by Lana Del Rey
So sweet…
How epic is the sweetheart table setup? E+A share: We had two of our best friends perform our live music for the ceremony. It was so special to us and a great way to include our closest friends.
Brewing your own beer for the big day? GENIUS!!
How darling are these personalize napkins with the the couple’s fun facts?!
A spread of cheesecakes from West Side Bakery… Does it get any better than that?!
Evan and I had so much fun over the year designing and creating our vision for the day. It was a great bonding experience and we learned even more about each other. Find what matters to you both and put your time into that! There's no tradition or detail you need to include if it does not feel like a reflection of you both as a couple! Seeing all the details and hard work come together is really a magical experience.
Not only did Evan design Alexa’s ring, but he also designed her shoes!! Oh, and as for his sharp suit? It’s by Rag and Bone.
Congrats to the both of you!!
