about us Kara Strings is a London string ensemble led by musicians who perform with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and trained at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music & Drama. What that means for your day: musicians who can read a room. We time the processional to the second, adjust volume and tempo as your guests move from ceremony to drinks, and handle the transitions so you never have to think about the music once you've chosen it. Working with us is simple. You get one point of contact from enquiry to wedding day, a consultation to plan your music, and genuine flexibility on repertoire, from Bach to Bridgerton to Bollywood. Alongside our London and UK weddings, we travel for destination celebrations across Europe and beyond. Recent engagements have taken us as far as Reykjavík, and we handle all the logistics of performing abroad so your music arrives as polished as it would at home. We've performed at Claridge's, Hampton Court Palace, The Ritz, Cliveden House and Kew Gardens, and played for clients including Netflix, Aston Martin and Coutts. Whether it's a solo violinist for an intimate ceremony or a six-piece ensemble for a grand reception, the standard is the same.
our approach / working with us Classical elegance, played live and without shortcuts. Our style is rooted in conservatoire training and orchestral discipline, then shaped around each couple: candlelit Bach for an intimate ceremony, Bridgerton-style arrangements of modern songs for the aisle, or something upbeat as the champagne comes out. Refined rather than flashy, and always responsive to the room.
why we love weddings The moment just before the doors open. The room goes quiet, we start playing, and everyone turns. As musicians, we get to hold that moment; getting the timing right so the music swells just as you walk in never stops being a privilege. We also love that no two weddings ask for the same thing. One week it's Vivaldi in a palace, the next it's a Bollywood hit on a clifftop. That variety keeps us sharp, and it means whatever you have in mind, we've probably played something like it, and we'll still treat yours like the first time.
our travel policy We play for destination weddings across Europe, the USA, and the Middle East, and we always love being part of such special occasions in beautiful settings. Travel and accommodation would be arranged in addition to fees quote. We are very experienced in travelling with instruments and can recommend the most suitable flight options — booking early usually keeps these costs down.
