A Vibrant Spanish-Inspired Wedding with Tons of DIY Details

Monterey Desert Inspired Wedding

If you love color, florals and unique details, then you’re going to LOVE how Olivia and Brandon styled their day! When O + B discovered Memory Garden in Monterey, California, they knew they had found the PERFECT venue for their Spanish-Inspired wedding. The Mediterranean architecture, tile details and lush gardens set the tone for their bright, boho event and with the talents of event designers, Bari Elexa Events, they created a seriously swoon-worthy setup. We absolutely love how creative O + B got when they decided to DIY all of their signage, escort tiles and seating chart. Talk about couple goals!!

Olivia shared more about their inspiration for the day:

We really wanted our wedding to include all things we love- garden venue, lots of colorful flowers & cacti, our closest friends and family, a coffee cart, a little 70’s/boho vibe, and some of our favorite music playing all evening! Both of us decided to DIY our day-of signage and escort tiles, which was a fun project to work on leading up to the wedding. We absolutely love how our wedding turned out and how much it felt like “us”. It was definitely our favorite day EVER!!

The Poffs got a front row seat to all of the beauty. Let’s take a look!

It’s All In The Details

So many beautiful things! This gorgeous invitation suite by Minted totally captures the color palette and Spanish vibes of the day. Also, how much do you LOVE Olivia’s ring by Trumpet & Horn? Talk about a stunner! Remember how we said O + B took on a lot of the DIY details? Well this shot features the first! Olivia told us more about her adorable DIY escort tiles:

I wanted our escort cards to be ceramic tiles with each of our guests names written on them, so I bought terracotta tiles from Tierra y Fuego and used a white ink pen to calligraphy the names on.

Bryr Shoes

The PERFECT boho bridal shoe!! These cute clogs are from Bryr. Olivia told us she loves that she’s able to keep wearing them after wedding day!

BHLDN Wedding Dress

Elegant and slinky with some boho, vintage, 70s vibes thrown into the mix! Olivia told us all about how she found her dream dress: (P.S. She got it from Lulu’s)

My wedding dress was from BHLDN and it was one of the first dresses I tried on and I fell in love with it right away! The deep v neckline, the bell-sleeves, the open back, the tassels- I just love everything about this dress. It even had a little 70’s/boho vibe to it!

mismatched bridesmaids

Olivia and her girls were all smiles! We love Emma Peterson Makeup’s natural but glam bridal makeup look that she created! Also, are you dreaming of mismatched bridesmaids dresses as much as we are right now? If you are, check out our tips on how to nail the look.

Freckled Floral knocked it out of the park with these florals. Have you ever seen anything so bright and beautiful?! We love their Spanish-inspired color palette of hot pink, peach, yellow and orange. These designs are totally enviable with fluffy blooms like peonies, butterfly ranunculus, reflexed tulips, bougainvillea, and garden roses. Also, that bright, golden ribbon from Party Crush Studio ties the whole look together! :)

A Floral Filled Ceremony

Another amazing DIY moment from O + B’s big day! Olivia bought a ton of potted succulents, cacti and other desert-inspired plants to use around the ceremony space. We love this idea because they can be taken home and enjoyed after the wedding! Check out the best wedding-to-home plants for beginners!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable part of our day was our ceremony. Brandon says his favorite part of the day was seeing me walk down the aisle (even though we saw each other before the ceremony and did our first look!). I was really nervous before walking out to the ceremony and having all eyes on me for the first time, but once I walked down the aisle and was up there, I saw all of our favorite people there for us and it was my favorite part!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Hire a wedding planner! You will never regret hiring a planner, they are such a huge help throughout the entire planning process, communicating with you and all the vendors, helping you with design elements, and on the day of the wedding making sure everything is running smoothly. Secondly, choose things you love and don't just pick things because you think that's what all weddings are supposed to have. We picked colors, rentals, decor, vendors, and styles that we loved and really felt like "us" and that really helped make our wedding so much more personal and unique! And remember it's YOUR day, so spend it how you want and don't get too caught up with all the different wedding traditions/"rules" and just enjoy the day!

We are totally loving O + B’s laid-back and boho sense of style. B’s trendy floral tie is from Ties from Dazi and The Brightline Studio did the adorable calligraphy on O’s bridal jacket! If you’re loving the floral tie trend for the guys, be sure to check out our GWS x The Tie Bar collection to see some more gorgeous options!

Time to Party: A Spanish- Inspired Reception

O + B made that seating chart display THEMSELVES! Here’s how they did it:

Brandon cut pieces of plywood, I typed up the signs in Photoshop and printed them on blush colored paper, and I attached them to the wood with gold flat push pins. For the seating chart, Brandon built the structure out of copper pipes and spray painted them matte gold (to tie into the other gold accents throughout the wedding). After thinking about so many different ways to make our own signage, this idea just popped in my head and I love how simple but clean it looked!

Coffee lovers unite! We couldn’t survive without our daily cup of Joe (or four!) and O + B totally get us. They had the cutest coffee bar from Hedge Coffee as a late night treat for their guests.
