Darling GWS readers, prepare to be whisked away to the faraway + exotic land of… Los Angeles. We’re only kind of joking! The moment Renée from Moxie Bright Events walked into the new L.A. venue, City Libre, she felt as if she was immediately transported to Mexico City (with a touch of Palm Springs). Running with that feeling, she crafted a gorgeous celebration of Mid-Century modern Palm Springs style, with Mexico-inspired details!
Jasmine, the photographer at Let’s Frolic Together shares: Renée took inspiration from very specific elements of each city’s style, and then purposely gave them a modern twist. From the hand-lettered brushwork on the paper goods, to the patterning in the appetizer styling, to the bold blue and soft pinks in the tableware styling — every ounce was infused with creativity. We especially loved the idea of unusual potted plants as favors, and the balance of secluded garden meets urban cityscape.
Who’s ready for a quick getaway to Mexico or Palm Springs? Let’s boogey!
Inspired by Mexican tiles, how gorgeous is this Pigment & Parchment invitation suite?! We’re absolutely digging all the brilliant pops of color.
The Florals
All of the colorful floral gorgeousness came together as this genius bouquet from Upton Grey Florals.
Oh my goodness, how darling is their pup with the floral collar?!
The Ceremony Space
Instead of using Talavera Mexican tile in their usual square form, Moxie Bright Events deconstructed the tile and mosaicked a trio of vintage arched windows. The result? A stunning and vibrant ceremony backdrop that felt like a fresh nod to a beautiful cultural aesthetic. The windows already had the distinctive archway of so many doorways in Mexico City, so it was a natural fit!
Fuchsia bougainvillea was the flower of choice, as it complements the venue’s blue exterior, and grows freely in both of the inspiration cities.
The Tasty Bites + Cocktails
Jennie Cooks Catering provided a delicious feast and Cali Craft Cocktails crafted hip cocktails to wash everything down with!
The Tablescape
Archive Rentals supplied a variety of vintage pieces to complete the colorful Mexican-inspired Mid-Century modern theme.
Adorable potted plants served as favors, balancing the secluded garden meets urban cityscape theme.
The Cake
Cakes by Colin knocked this one out of the park: the detail on the cake is styled after the famed Parker Palm Springs breeze block wall. And the bougainvillea on top? That’s completely edible and made out of SUGAR.
The Lounge
One of our favorite things? This incredible cocktail hour lounge! The shelves, the deep blues and soft pinks and fuchsia hues… so breathtaking!
No detail was skimped — Mobile Bridal Salon made sure the bride was glowing and her hair was seriously Pin-worthy! Also, did you notice the draping sleeves on her Vene Ai Studio gown? So elegant!
Wow, wow, WOW!! We weren’t kidding when we said this editorial packed a punch of color, right?!
Major kudos, props, and compliments to the talented team that created all this inspo! For a deeper look into the day, check out this clip from Press Films:
