The area of San Luis Obispo is brimming with lush nature, gorgeous Spanish-inspired architecture, and hip restaurants. So it wasn’t difficult for Lovelyfest Events to bring an elegant + colorful design scheme, with some major Mexico-inspired flair, to Greengate Ranch & Vineyard. The guests at Courtney + Juan’s wedding were serenaded by a mariachi band as they walked into cocktail hour. The space was brimming with bougainvillea, paper picado banners, and tons of macramé accents.
Here’s Courtney with a bit more about the details: For the wedding, we really wanted it to be a reflection of the both of us and be fun for all of our guests. I love bright colors and flowers, so that was an easy choice. One of Juan’s requests was that we have mariachis, so it just kind of evolved from there!
Let’s take a look at all the flair, expertly photographed by Ashley Ludaescher Photography.
How much fun is the invitation suite from Minted?! Laser cut details + that watercolor tile accent… totally perfect for this Mexico-inspired day!
The Wedding Party
My most memorable moment was the first look. In the morning, I remember being very calm, and then all of a sudden, once I had to put my dress on — the nerves started kicking in. Then, as soon as I saw Juan for our first look, all of my nerves went away and I couldn’t wait to marry him.
Love this shot!
The Ceremony Space
The ceremony was set on the south end of the property, on a grassy peninsula surrounded by a pond and vineyards. Precious & Blooming floral design used a large, round, wooden arch as the altar and adorned it with bougainvillea and peonies as bright as a summer day.
Can’t get over that bougainvillea!!
Processional: Bridal Party: Perfect by Ed Sheeran; Bridal Entrance: A Thousand Years by The Piano Guys
Recessional: Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) by Stevie Wonder
First Dance: It’s Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
Lovelyfest Events created a large escort display wall, which held all 400 individual bright pink otomi escort cards, and a custom gold foil sign at the top saying “Find Your Seat, Por Favor.” The wall was flanked with authentic equipale tables, woven basket trays, ceramic lanterns and potted cactus.
The Reception + Tablescape
Guests dined under hanging papel picado, with alternating macrame table runners and shibori linens on the farmhouse tables. Every place setting was adorned with a maraca, which doubled as a favor and welcome addition to the party!
That color combination of the shibori indigo + pink hues is the prettiest combo, right?
How gorgeous are those florals from Precious & Blooming?! So much vibrant color!

Different sized tables created some visual interest, with various linen colors and patterns to break up the sea of tables. Oh, and those handmade macrame runners are from Mod Mix Studio!
The Cake
How cute is this macramé cake Paper Cake Events crafted?! Placed in front of a wall of sombreros, Lovelyfest Events definitely brought the Mexico-inspired vibes to the day!
As soon as people find out you are engaged, advice and suggestions for your wedding start flying in from all over the place. Some of the advice is very much needed and appreciated. On the other hand, some of it is the total opposite. Try not to let unwanted advice from others influence what you have in mind for your big day. If you want a certain color for your bridesmaids' dresses, or certain flowers for your ceremony, go for it! It’s your big day. In the end, all that matters is that the two of you are happy and had the wedding of your dreams.
So gorgeous + so fun! Congratulations, C+J!!
