We’re all about this engagement session featuring musician + fashion blogger, Casey Carlson (aka Quigley) and Alex Goode! The dreamy images were captured by Jonathan Yacoub Photography at the surreal sandstone formations of Vasquez Rocks in Southern California (this is also where Star Trek was filmed!). Casey + Alex are notorious flea market addicts and with their vintage meets rocker style, we’re kind of in love. In fact, we’ll be sharing their wedding – which promises to be one super cool event – when the time comes!!
The two have been together for almost four years and Alex proposed back in April. Casey shares We were holding a fundraiser in memory of his father for the Pasadena Humane Society. At one point in the night, Alex got on top of the bar in front of all our friends and family and made a toast to his father. During his speech he mentioned that the last conversation he had with his dad was about spending the rest of his life with someone. That’s when everyone started chanting my name and one of my friends swooped me up and put me up on the bar with him. He took out the box and got on one knee and it was instant waterworks for me. My face hurt the next morning from smiling so hard all night.
Anyone else tear up reading that? Let’s take a peak at this desert magic!
Casey shares I found this vintage Gunne Sax dress at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, and was so inspired. It fit me like a glove… my immediate thought was “am I cool enough to get married in this $40 dollar flea market find?!” Then my second thought was “No… you’re probably not that hardcore, so why not just plan an engagement shoot around it?” So I grabbed a dark leather bomber jacket for Alex (to keep in line with the traditional bride/groom colors) and called it a day!
That stunning ring is by Mark Broumand.
How CUTE are these two?! Also, we love the wild mustard and desert florals Casey found. Her whole look really complements the landscape.
For those that are looking to do an engagement shoot soon - it's crucial to find a photographer that you're comfortable with! Johnny is a good friend of mine and I have shot with him before, so I knew we worked well together. We love that we got to focus on goofing around and being us, instead of being stressed out and too posey.
Also - we didn't feel rushed, which helped a lot. We opted out of shooting at multiple locations and changing a bunch of times. We'd suggest picking a fantastic spot and one or two outfits that are totally representative of your personalities.
Congrats on your engagement C + A! We can’t wait to share your wedding!
