You know you’re in for a different kind of ceremony when the wedding officiant is “billed” as an improv team! Nick + Amber postponed their original wedding plans during the height of the pandemic and opted to elope. When the time came to celebrate with their family and friends, they decided to truly do it their way. They surprised their guests by flying in actors from a comedy club in Minneapolis to “crash,” officiate, emcee, and host roast guests for the most fun + unique wedding entertainment!
We knew we were going to take a non-traditional approach to planning our wedding and that it couldn’t possibly fit into one night. This inspired our hotel-take-over destination wedding weekend. “Timeless romance” was our inspiration and the Ingleside Inn and Melvyn’s couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop. We did everything our way and often asked ourselves if we were making a decision because we wanted it or because it was tradition. Our ceremony was a comedy skit, so I’m not sure it gets less traditional than that. The entire weekend was magical.
With design by Luna Design Studios and planning by The Walk Down the Aisle, it was curtains up on a weekend of laughs. Plus, photographer Carmen Lopez Photography called it the most unique wedding she’s ever photographed. Let’s jump in on the fun!
The Belted Wedding Dress: When You Know, You Know
Amber wore her namesake dress by Lihi Hod! The dress is called Amber (so it was obviously meant to be) I fell in love with it via Pinterest during lockdown. She had me with that belt! I’m still so in love with it. I might just wear it to Target next week, LOL.

Nick + Amber burned a rad rock n’ roll unity candle!
I'm not sure we can pick one moment. There was so much laughter throughout the day and night. Multiple times we sat back and said, "Yep…nailed it!!" No matter what was happening, we could look at each other and everyone around us and feel so incredibly loved. We’ll never forget those moments.
If you can’t immediately tell by the photo, they’re obviously dancing down the aisle to “Pony” by Genuine.
We took the traditional idea of a wedding and made it fit our personalities. If something doesn’t feel important to you, don’t do it. Do what makes you both happy have fun and don’t sweat the small stuff.
A Fireball of a Reception
Guests were greeted at the reception with a “fireball wall” that served as a seating chart for their guests! And shots were definitely shot at the end of dinner.
The improv team continued to entertain the crowd throughout dinner and toasts! The actors-turned-emcees received all the juicy secrets and stories from the couple about their guests and entertained everyone with a good old fashion roast throughout the night.
