Megan + Alex weren’t afraid to think outside of the box when it came to their wedding. This bride loves GWS and was so excited to share her special day with us! After the couple discussed exactly what they pictured for their ceremony, they teamed with Bird Dog Wedding to bring their unique vision to life. Here’s Megan on how they captured the perfect vibe:
“Before reaching out to any vendors, we sat down as a couple and built a concept for our wedding. The concept helped define what we like and equally as important, what we don’t like. We used it as a guide for evaluating venues, vendor proposals and other details. We both love the vibe of Bunkhouse properties, to the extent that we even got engaged at the Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin. Because of that, we tried to infuse our wedding with retro-funkiness and a bold color palette. I feel like these vibes really came to life through our printed materials, decor and floral color palette.”
The Magical First Look
Obsessed with this bright red bouquet from Remi + Gold! The pop of color stands out against this metal-aluminum Texas barn!
Ceremony in the Countryside
Processional: The Scientist – Coldplay (performed by string quartet)
Recessional: All You Need is Love – The Beatles (performed by a string quartet)
First Dance: The Cure – Lovesong
The happy couple! Look at her smile!
The Bridal Party
These green bridesmaid dresses against the bright red hues are PERFECTION!
You can never go wrong with a simple white gown! We asked Megan to share the story of finding her perfect dress:
“We’re from Houston so I made a trip home to shop with my mom, future mother-in-law and bridesmaids. I found my dress at Lovely Bridal in Houston; I was so excited to shop at Lovely because the shop is in my old stomping grounds in the Montrose area of Houston. It was great to be in a familiar spot shopping for my wedding dress. I specifically wanted a simple, long sleeve dress, and when I tried on the Vagabond Anastasia I knew it was the one. The a-line frame was so flattering and the open back detail gave it a unique flair.”
The Perfect Reception
Don’t forget about the easy-to-forget details. All the little things, like event signage, table-wear and guest gift bags, start to add up. For example, if you want a large welcome sign, make sure you think about it before it’s too late, or after your budget has been allocated elsewhere. Maya and Love really came through with our event signage!
And here’s another beautiful example of how they tied in their moody red and deep green hues into their reception decor! So picturesque.
Celebrating with friends and family after a year in quarantine was absolutely amazing. Our most memorable moments were the speeches by our friends and family. My dad read a note that I wrote when I was a little girl at summer camp. Both of us have older siblings and they also spoke at the wedding. Alejandro’s brother had everyone laughing with his engineer jokes and in tears over a tribute to their parents, who are first generation Americans. My sister, who is 13 years older than me, reminisced about taking care of me as a little girl. All of the speeches were incredibly touching and we’ll never forget those moments.
We cannot get over these heart-shaped sunglasses she paired with her dress that really played into their retro-funky vibe.
“My reception dress was Rime Arokoday and I loved the lace details how the skirt puffed out. Plus, it was really fun to get a dress delivered from Paris!”
Congratulations to Megan and Alex on your fantastic wedding day!
