Some couples would rather stick to the basics when it comes to design — just black and white. Though it may seem like a simple color combination, when styled well (like you’re about to see), it can make a *MAJOR* statement. Focusing on matte black as the primary color of the palette, with ivory accents, Katie Horvath of Sister Honey Floral Co crafted one seriously cool + modern editorial.
She shares We took a very clean and modern approach to showcase the color in a light and airy way. We rocked the ceremony space with a bold floral installation of plum smoke bush over ivory macramé. Our tablescape was full of gorgeous matte black elements, but softened with ivory calligraphy menus and ivory garden roses.
Prepare to be dazzled by the photos Sarah Ascanio captured at Studio 125 in Minneapolis!
Reminiscent of letters from bygone eras, and polished off with swoon worthy calligraphy, Shasta Bell Calligraphy crafted one dreamy invitation suite.
Oooooooh la la! This (dare we say) sexy wedding dress is from a&bé bridal minneapolis.
The bridal bouquet by Sister Honey Floral Co, with flowing Silk & Willow ribbons, is a lovely combination of dark plum ninebark and ivory garden roses.
Lately we’ve been seeing quite a few versions of macramé backdrops, but nothing quite like this! Knot + Ivy’s asymmetrical piece takes the cake + we adore the way it’s been topped with textured foliage.
Matte black + ivory, with touches of gold here and there… This tablescape is clean, polished, and way pretty!

All black with a touch of florals — simple as that.
How refined + elegant is this cake by The Copper Hen?! And paired with that stunning cake platter by Beanpole Pottery – GORGE!
Moody, modern, and oh so cool… We could definitely see matte black + macramé playing (and pairing) nicely with a number of other colors and themes. Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments below!
As always, THANK YOU so much to the talented group of vendors behind this inspiration!
