Emily + Tucker originally wanted to get married in Hawaii, but after they realized many of their friends + family might not be able to attend a destination wedding, they looked to the Southern California coast line… and a tropical Hawaiian-inspired theme was born! The Adamson House in Malibu was the perfect mix of coastal coolness for these California locals, and Twine Events was able to bring all the tropical vibes.
Emily tells us: Tucker’s only request for the wedding, was wanting to be on the beach, whereas I wanted lots of greenery — it was the perfect combination of both. It is almost like an English garden on the beach. We then found out the only date available was on Cinco de Mayo. This is where the wedding turned into a tropical fiesta, in the best way possible of course! Our favorite food is Mexican so we knew that was a must, along with margaritas — his being spicy, mine being skinny. I am not too big on color, so for the reception tables, we kept it lush with lots of palm leaves with some sporadically painted gold.
Let’s take a peek at all the fun captured by Katie Shuler Photography. Shall we?
The Details
Ferns + foliage — isn’t this invitation suite so fun?
All the color for the day was brought in by the florals that Of the Flowers put together! Oh, and peep the bride’s ruffled shoes… totally ADORABLE!
The Wedding Party
To stay with the neutral tones of the day, while complementing the colorful florals, the bridesmaids wore an array of peachy pink and taupe dresses.
Hello, peonies! Along with a sprinkling of greenery, anemones, ranunculus + more — how good is this pop of color?
Lookin’ SHARP E+T! Emily donned a gown from Mikaella Bridal, while Tucker looked dapper as ever in a fitted tux.
The Ceremony Overlooking the Water
Bamboo chairs from Smart Part Rents were the perfect beachy complement to this serene setting.
Too ADORABLE!!
The best feeling! Emily shares: I walked down the aisle with my dad to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The song reminded me of my trips to Maui with my grandparents and extended family. It was my late grandmother’s favorite song so in a way it was as though she was with us.
Enjoy the whole planning process. It is such an exciting and fun time! I remember all year people would ask me how stressed out I was, and I never really got to that point. I owe a lot of that to my mom and our wedding planner, Erica from Twine Events. Erica helped me to build a total dream team of vendors and I fully put my trust into all of them. Erica completely took our vision and made it a reality. Everything came out so perfectly and more beautiful then we could have ever dreamt of. And in the end, you are marrying the love of your life and that is all that truly matters!
The Tropical Reception
Celebrating in style — escort cards + favors came in the form of these fun maracas.
Tucker’s mother embroidered each guest a napkin with “Mi Amor,” to tie in the fiesta theme.
Congratulations, you two!
