Travel Through Time in this Celestial Doctor Who Wedding

Doctor Who Real Wedding

Calling all Doctor Who fans!! Who…is excited to officially meet the Thirteenth Doctor this Sunday?! If you’re counting down the days, we’ve got something super fun to tie you over in the form of a Doctor Who wedding! Debbie, the bride, is the self-proclaimed “geek” behind Fandom Affairs, a wedding planning + event company known for bringing “geek chic” to life. For fans of fantasy and sci-fi, Debbie is your gal—and when it came to planning her own wedding, nothing fantastical was off limits.

Debbie + Zack wanted to capture the essence of their love and credit Doctor Who for bringing them together. It was the perfect theme to reflect themselves as a couple! Every last detail was carefully planned for a day that transcends space and time—a celestial celebration for these lifelong companions.

Who better to capture all the geek-chic goodness at Castle Green than Mary Costa Photography?! Let’s go…we mean…allons-y!

The Doctor’s in the Details

Doctor Who Real Wedding

First up, the invitation suite by Faith Into Art featured a laser cut gatefold of the TARDIS, the Doctor’s time machine. And that watercolor motif? It’s personalized to spell D + Z’s last name in Gallifreyan, the Doctor’s native language!

It’s the ultimate fangirl dream right here: the TARDIS, a dreamy wedding gown, and a pair of Badgley Mischka flats!!

The TARDIS (courtesy of Nakayama Studios) served two purposes: one, for time travel—of course—and two, an audio guest book! Guests could pick up the phone inside the police call box to hear a pre-recorded message from D + Z, then leave a message after the tone for the newlyweds!

The Bridal Party

As for those florals by Bridezilla Events, aren’t they just rich?!

By the way, we’ve got a flower hoop DIY right here if you’re loving that little lady’s alternate bouquet!

Time to Transport to the Ceremony!

The ceremony space featured a large clock backdrop by Paper Moon Shoppe with Gallifreyan symbols painted inside. It almost feels reminiscent of the opening credits to the show!

Throughout the ceremony, D + Z chose to “time-travel” to different lands that meant something to them. This included Disneyland, where they often had dates, and Hogwarts, where Zack proposed!

Even their rings, placed in a TARDIS ring box, “traveled through time and space” and ended up hidden underneath one of the guests’ seats! Everyone jumped at the chance to see if their seat contained the rings!

Topping off the Doctor Who wedding splendor was their officiant, Alan Katz from Great Officiants, dressed as Tom Baker’s 4th Doctor in his famous multi-colored scarf, plus a replica of River Song’s journal for their vows.

A Celestial Reception

Doctor Who Real Wedding

Once cocktail hour ended, guests found their seats at the pocket watch escort card display, an homage to the Doctor’s special timepiece.

How cool is this drink?! The “Starry Night” signature cocktail was inspired by the episode, Vincent and the Doctor. The activated charcoal and edible glitter swirled to create impressionistic night sky like Van Gogh’s painting!

The reception room was decorated in an elegant celestial theme, complete with constellation terrariums and starburst sphere centerpieces.

More fun Doctor Who references: guests could choose between “Thyme Lord Chicken,” “New New York Steak,” “River’s Red Snapper,” and “Bow Ties are Cool Pasta,” all entrees created by Little Lily’s Kitchen!
