The bride is Mexican-German and her now husband is German. The two met dancing in the youth ballet of the theatre of their hometown Wiesbaden at a very young age. It wasn’t until later, when they started taking ballroom classes together (age 15 and 19) that they started dating! Except for a one year break they have been in a relationship ever since. They’ve always kept dancing as their hobby and let this inspire some of the details for the wedding.
The couple tied the knot during a luxurious destination weekend getaway in the bride’s second home country, Mexico. The wedding took place in the amazing city of Mérida, Yucatán. Of the 100 guests, about half of them traveled with the couple from Germany. Her Mexican family and friends live in Toluca and CDMX and also flew to Mérida for the big day! Vincent Coral created the breathtaking event design and FH Weddings & Events planned every step along the way. A Weekend Celebration Commences!
The weekend celebrations actually started on Thursday where the couple kicked off the festivities with a mezcal tasting on the Picheta rooftop with a beautiful view of the city of Merida!
Their guests were greeted with a fun little train to get to the venue, where live music and Mexican-flavored popsicles were waiting for them.
To give their guests the full Mexican experience the couple organized tours and events the days before the wedding. Upon arrival at their hotels, each guest was greeted with a welcome bag with the wedding logo, Mexican candy, a printed itinerary, and personal letters!
The groom wore a custom suit in rust by Sons of Savile Row for the ceremony and reception!
The Dreamy Venue
This gorgeous pampas design lining the wedding aisle truly adds to the whimsical and boho vibe of their wedding day!
“When I walked down the stairs at the ceremony with my dad we chose a very special song: the intermezzo from the opera Carmen. It is one of our favorite melodies and Dominik also played it during his proposal. There was not one eye dry!”
The groom was at a loss for words! We love when photographers capture special moments such as this one here!
WHAT an entrance!! Everyone was on their feet as the bride descended down the steps!
“A local priest married us in Spanish alongside a close friend as wedding speaker in both the Spanish and German language. Also a dear friend of ours performed various songs during the ceremony. The Hacienda spoke to our hearts as it has a unique amphitheater built in a natural cenote and a giant tree. As we have danced on stage together when we were younger, the theater was just perfect for our ceremony.”
When Two Become One
The bride shares that one of her two Galia Lahav custom couture dresses had a 3.5 m long train and was inspired by classical ballet tutus!
After the ceremony, a Mariachi band accompanied everyone to the cocktail location. Most of the guests were not expecting a Mariachi and it was a very special moment. At the couple’s request, they rehearsed “Huapango de Moncayo” to start as they wanted the first song to be classical Mexican music!
Such a dreamy wedding day look! Germy Terron created this gorgeous natural makeup look and swept back low bun to let the bride’s beauty shine bright!
After the Wedding Festivities
“As we tried to give our wedding a personal touch in every detail we named the tables after our favorites dances (instead of 1,2,3..). Also, we opted for an audio guest book and a 360-degree video instead of a traditional photo booth. My dad built the audio guest book himself as I couldn’t find any vendor near Mérida offering this service which seems to be common in the US.”
For the stationery, the bride worked with her cousin, Alexandra, who designed every single piece. From the save the date cards to the menus and signs at the wedding venue.

There was this gorgeous structure with flowers and hanging lights as well as a swing to watch those on the dancefloor.
The second dress for the party was a shimmering trumpet dress with sheer cut-outs and silver embroidery that is absolutely breathtaking!
“Another unique moment was our first dance. Due to our skills, our guests had some expectations. We’d like to say the crowd was going wild! We ended our dance remix with fireworks on the dance floor. The dance floor had a Persian tapestry design, an element that was also included in the amphitheater.”
The party was a hit! The DJ knew how to read the dance floor perfectly and there was a German song or two that set the mood. Everyone ended up exhausted and very happy at 3:30 in the morning!
Post Wedding Photoshoot
Back in Europe, the two flew to Mallorca and had a dreamy after-wedding shoot at the beach with star photographers Chris & Ruth! This is a great way to get more portraits in your wedding attire and not steal time on your wedding day – plus you can get portraits in a totally different setting!
So. DREAMY!! After the eventful weekend filled with love and laughter, the newlyweds jumped on a boat to Holbox for a fun buddymoon with friends and family! A full three-day celebration! We send our well wishes to the newlyweds!
