We here at GWS have a penchant for weddings (but you’ve probably already guessed that), so when we see a wedding turned weekend extravaganza — we’re ALL about it! And today, we’re sharing just that — in two parts!! Sarah + Garrett wanted to make their wedding into one of the most magical events, so they whisked their family + friends out to the desert, Pioneertown in Joshua Tree, to be exact! There, they camped in glamping tents, Airstreams, and teepees, awoke to restorative yoga sessions and danced the night away. Part one of this wedding extravaganza is all about the Rehearsal Dinner!
Pow Wow Design Studio transformed the desert landscape into a Moroccan-inspired sanctuary, brimming with pretty gems, terrariums, and blooms, complemented by twinkling lights. And the two snuck away for their own little photoshoot, complete with colored smoke bombs!
Let’s see all the cool details of the Rehearsal Dinner, photographed by Kelsea Holder!
Fun Fact: Pioneertown was built in 1946 as a movie set by a group of Hollywood investors — including actors Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. The team dreamed up an Old West set with 1880s-style façades, with interiors that had activities for visitors to partake in. The town is complete with frontier tables, saloons, and jails; the interior is fitted with ice cream parlors, bowling alleys + motels. Today, Pioneertown is fun place for visitors to see, especially those who love music, beer + line dancing!
All the string lights + the rustic tables!!
Such a pretty lounge area! We’d definitely like a few of those pieces in our home…

If you’ve ever seen the desert sky at night, you’ll understand why those constellation rocks are so perfect!
Doesn’t that look yummy?! A MIHO Experience provided the catering.
The photographer shares One of the most magical aspects of the day was the crowd… Everyone was so perfectly laid-back and enjoying their time. In the desert, there isn’t much of an aspect of time anyway, so everyone just enjoyed the present moment.
So sweet! And that landscape!!
How awesome is this?!
How much fun was that?! Check back in a few hours to see Part 2 – The Wedding!!
And in case you can’t wait… Here’s a sweet little video by Rotor Collective!
