This Florist Threw Her Engagement Party in an Alley… Just Wait ‘Til You See It!

Alley Engagement Party

We’ve said it before + we’ll say it again — you can make your wedding, engagement party, evening soirée, bridal shower whatever you want, given a little imagination + creativity. Case in point, this florist’s engagement party… in an alley! Yup, that’s right folks. Today’s darling gal, Ferrell of The Cottage Rose, wanted to do something a little different and thought that they alley next to her shop would be the perfect place.

She tells us: The alley needed some work, but we cleaned it up, strung lights overhead with greenery and rented 5 long tables (from Belle Journée Events) and 45 chairs (from Ultrapom) to create the perfect setting. You couldn’t even tell we were in an alley in Kansas City! It looked like Italy!

Let’s see all the creativity at play in the photos snapped by Kaley from Kansas!

The Tablescape

I’m a florist, so I have done a lot of people’s weddings by now (#alwaysafloristneverabride). Almost every single wedding I’ve worked has me thinking of what I would do for my own. So, when my boyfriend of over 6 years proposed last January, apart from obviously being super excited to get married, I was also super excited to get to design the day exactly how I want, without influence from someone else (besides the groom)!

How gorgeous are those fresh summery florals + succulents?

She loaded the table with fresh spring florals, wooden candlesticks, potted cactus in terra cotta, incense, baskets and wooden bowls for chips and salsa, and lots of wine and sangria.

Totally proving that all you need is a fun idea + you can spruce up any place for a party! String lights, CHECK, tablescape, CHECK, florals, CHECK!

The color scheme was kept fairly neutral, with subtle pops of pink and cream — letting the character of the alley setting shine.

The Delicious Bites

A taco bar provided by Port Fonda was displayed inside the flower shop, as well as some homemade desserts.

How adorable is she?! The bride-to-be rocked a super cute frock from Dear Society — a boutique down the street from her show. And Jamie Miller from The Hair Parlor did her hair and makeup. She made sure to keep everything local + support her community. :)

Doesn’t this look so fun?! We love how unexpected the setting is.
