Isn’t it wild how you can find inspiration anywhere? Maria, the talented force behind Tie the Knot Santorini, is a fan of the combination of art and printed textiles, so her inspiration for this abstract art-inspired wedding seems almost serendipitous:
One day I was having a walk amongst the picturesque Santorini paths when I noticed the abstract, colorful prints on the dress I wore. The pattern complemented the warm Santorini colors so nicely and I thought it would look amazing as a wedding backdrop! So I shared the idea with my dear friend (and super talented photographer) Nisha Ravi and she loved it!
The colors and designs bring to mind Salvation Mountain—and the popular man-made destination influenced the creation of the ceremony aisle.
There is much to love about the art-inspired wedding day so let’s dive into the details!
First, a Pop of Pink
The day began at the perfect canvas location— the gorgeous secluded villa of Akrorama. The perfect spot for a pop of pink in the form of a gorgeous bougainvillea bouquet!
An Art-Inspired Wedding Backdrop
And now for a total work of art! Kirsty + Daryl from Weddings & Whimsy Santorini are the amazing artists who created the beautiful ceremony backdrop. The aisle channeled Salvation Mountain vibes with flowers and more colorful abstract strokes. The giant painted leaves by Betty Flowers Santorini were the perfect final touch on the art-inspired wedding decor!
Bridal Beauty
A perfectly peach flower crown sat atop loose waves by Marianna Nomikou and a bronzed bridal look by Renia Bledaki.
Rock the Color Block Bouquet
The bride wore a two-piece wedding dress by Atelier Zolotas and you KNOW we are here for the macramé details. And can we please get a closer look at that color-block bouquet?!
UM, OKAY. Betty Flowers Santorini does it again with those textures and colors!
Texture + Light for an Art-Inspired Wedding Reception
Next up, the totally dreamy reception filled with lights, flowers, and texture.
How romantic is the tulle + candlelight combo?

Yarn and twinkle lights?! OKAY. It’s like mixing a favorite wall weaving with mood lighting—brilliant!
Finally, Alexandra’s Cakes created two cakes that featured a painter’s palette of colors and designs.
Yes to terrazzo cakes!
Nothing like a Santorini sunset to end the day!
