The Bride Wore Lavender in this Colorful Kiev Wedding

A sea of white blossoms on an unseasonably warm day; a lavender ball gown topped with a crown of fresh flowers; a sweet couple vowing to love one another, all because the groom took a risk to get the girl…sounds like a fairy tale to us! When their mutual friend showed him a photo of Ann and offered to make the introduction, Eugene declined. Instead, he took the initiative and sent her a message out of the blue. Ann agreed to meet him at a restaurant where, unbeknownst to the two of them, Eugene would one day propose. He asked for her hand in December, on Ann’s birthday, and they began planning an April wedding the very next day.

A+E knew they wanted a warm, outdoor wedding, but choosing a date in April was quite the gamble. Fortunately, one that worked in their favor! They chose to celebrate in an apple orchard in Kiev’s M.M. Gryshko National Botanic Garden, right in the city center. The blossoms on the trees would be blooming in white, the perfect backdrop for Ann to experiment with bright colors and prints.

Though they planned the wedding with little outside help (which they don’t necessarily recommend for others!), Ann did have one ace in her pocket: her sister, Svetlana, wedding dress designer and owner of ESTY STYLE Wedding Design. Svetlana designed Ann’s gorgeous lavender gown, the floral-printed bridesmaid dress, and matching bowties for the men.
