The Bride That Worked at Pinterest: The Most DIY-Filled Wedding, EVER!

Rustic Half Moon Bay Wedding

We know how easy it is to get lost down the rabbit hole of *Pinterest perfection,* especially when it comes to wedding planning. Well, instead of lusting over other designs and figuring out how to manage it all, today’s bride used Pinterest to fuel all her DIY dreams! Krissi actually worked for Pinterest, so we’re not surprised that she’s super crafty! Taking it to the coastal hills and redwoods of California, Krissi + Wylie created a free-spirited and imaginative day, with the help of Coastside Couture. Together they handmade dream catchers, a visual timeline for the day, a stunning escort display, and their pop-up camper, Ruby, even made an appearance as the photo booth!

Krissi shares: We wanted our wedding to be an outdoor adventure. Guests gathered at a rustic barn for the ceremony, hiked down to a whimsical redwood grove for the reception, and ended the evening glamping in the coastal hills of California. We love being in the woods and we fell head over heels for the Island Farm upon seeing it. Wylie is the creator and CEO of Rumpl, and designed personalized Rumpl blankets to keep guests warm and cozy as the sun disappeared amongst the treetops.

Let’s wander through the woods and take a peek at the collection of snaps from Annamae Photo!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our ceremony, and more specifically, our vows. We each wrote our own heartfelt vows. Expressing our love and commitment to each other was an extraordinary experience. It was very special to share this moment with our closest family and friends.

The Outdoor Reception

We love seeing childhood pictures at weddings, but a slideshow didn’t align with our outdoor adventure wedding. Instead, I created a “visual timeline” by printing and framing 75+ photos. The timeline started with early childhood pics and chronologically transitioned to our life together. We even included space for guests to add polaroids during cocktail hour. It was one of my favorite wedding projects!

For the escort card display, Krissi DIYed this colorful board of minerals. Creative + oh-so cool!

Since the wedding was held in the woods, a log was used in place of the table runner + decked out with florals from Laughing Gal Floral. Isn’t that such a neat idea?

The Floral Lounge

Meet Ruby! K+W are happiest when camping in their darling van, so they decided to incorporate her — as a photo booth lounge! Their friend, Bloom Generationhung flowers from Ruby’s pop-top and created a gorgeous photo booth for the reception.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

For those planning a wedding in the woods, remember, there’s very little sunlight! Temperatures tend to drop quickly and it gets chilly before sunset. We’d recommend planning accordingly to ensure guests stay warm. We had one heat lamp per table and a blanket for each guest—we heard lots of thanks and appreciation for the extra-cozy measures.

How would you like to camp, er glamp, in one of those tents?!

In the words of R. Kelly, “After the Party is the After Party” and we couldn’t agree more! After the reception, we moved up to the glamping tents and put on our party pants. I handmade all of the after party decor, including an epic snack bar, flash tattoo station, and a fabric-hanging backdrop for a pop of color and flare. We even hand-dyed Wylie’s indigo party suit.

I guess you could say it’s a “pin come true.” Too punny? :)

Congratulations, Krissi + Wylie!
