The Best Of! Inspiration from our Preferred Wedding Artists

With weddings taking a hit, the creative forces behind the “I do’s” are looking at a whole new future ahead. Our GWS-approved artists are generating new ideas, pivoting with the times, and continuing to do what they do best: getting creative. We like to check in and see what our Preferred Artists are up to and perhaps introduce YOU to your future wedding designer/photographer/florist (and more!) BFFs.

A few of these photos are pre-COVID or just at the beginning of the pandemic. There’s a moodiness, for sure, but there’s HOPE in there, too. Love + creativity lives on! It’s our sincere hope at GWS that if you’re planning a wedding, you continue to support these small businesses when and where you can. And even better if you choose someone from our totally rad GWS family :)

Those Laid-Back Boho Vibes

from Sugar Creek Event Rentals:
This was a real couple who won a contest for an elopement photoshoot! They were already married, but did not receive their wedding photos due to hiring a crook of a “professional.” The vibe was rock & roll-meets-hipster-meets an RV park – that channels the El Cosmico (a la Marfa). The contest occurred right before the country was shut-down. Looking back, none of us could have forecasted one of the most unforgettable moments in our history playing out right in front of our eyes. I’m grateful this was one of my last creative gigs before we went into shelter-in-place as it was a really good one.

Making Modern History

design by KCIDY Design:
Blair and Spencer wanted a wedding with a 1920 Art Deco influence in an untraditional location — the perfect mix of history meets contemporary. Our team designed 3 hexagons to pull out the Art Deco vibe with a modern influence and a 50-foot gold aisle with strong geometric lines. The perfect statement piece for the blended centuries.

Hand in Hand Through it All

photo: Colagrossi & Co.
Our best friends Alex and Alexa just helped us move from Indiana all the way to our new home in Yucca Valley, California, and we couldn’t let them leave without a couples shoot! We took this in a boulder field that lays about a 2-minute walk down a dirt road behind our new home. This place and their love feel akin to us — so magical, like it was meant to happen. It’ll always be one of our favorite shoots now because it’s so symbolic of this new life we have together: traversing through a rocky terrain, hand in hand, side by side.

A Bride + Her Bouquet

photo: Hourglass Photography
This editorial showcases a gorgeous real bride in her wedding dress at a moody spring intimate wedding. We incorporated dainty blooms, lots of light, and deep details. It was refreshing to use reflections, windows, lights, and smoke to bring some new perspectives.

Moody Florals for a Moody Year

florals by Revel Petals:
This bouquet was from the last shoot I did before 2020 slammed into me like a ton of bricks! Haha — it’s moody and winter-spring and not far off what I’m feeling at the moment…
