Charlene and Chris are two souls who met at a house party, and had an instant, electric connection. Fast forward to this magical forest wedding with the coolest, wildwood DIY wedding arch for their ceremony! A DIY bride is close to our hearts. Especially, when the DIY projects involve beloved family + friends.
Charlene shares some planning #bts: We wanted to make a staycation out of our wedding! We started searching Malibu, then our planner, Lizzy Liz Events, found SkyPark Village! We handmade a lot of details, like our signage, table numbers, wedding ceremony arch backdrop + yarn tassels. I am a tattoo artist, so I thought it would be really neat to have our guests tattoo their names on faux skin in lieu of a traditional guest book. With culture in mind, I also made a traditional Vietnamese hat, gluing lace appliques for a more modern look,
Charlene’s traditional Vietnamese hat miiiight be our absolute favorite accessory to date. But with this forest wedding, it’s really hard to choose! As you’ll see, the night for C + C ends with a boba bar, s’mores, and selfies with a rad, neon sign. Isaiah and Taylor snapped all the DIY wedding magic…and then some.

Since we’re all about drama, we’re excited to share this stylish detail. Dress designer, Adam Zohar, was on hand throughout the day to assist in styling all three of her bridal looks! Now that’s a designer who delivers.
In addition to this muted and wild bridal bouquet, Oak and Ivy Designs used lush designs to elevate C + C’s DIY decorations.

Our Favorite Memory
A favorite moment was giving Chris his gift! I redesigned a new tattoo for him and had made it on faux skin for him to keep. We also loved our first look! We were both so nervous and couldn't wait to see each other.
DIY Wedding Arch Backdrop with Wildwood
The pièce de résistance! As can be seen, this DIY wedding arch backdrop is a thing of beauty! Not only is it rustic and wild, but it’s also bohemian and inviting. Charlene’s Dad and the groom put their hearts into this design. Certainly, it’s well-worth the DIY work.

Our Advice
Hire vendors that you trust because they will truly take care of you on your wedding day. We didn't stress at all, and we didn't have to worry about anything. Time flew by so fast, so enjoy every second of it!
