Such a romantic + sweet vow renewal to share with you lovelies today! Emilee of Tasteful Tatters wanted to put together a sweet suprise for her husband on their one year anniversary and I can’t think of a more perfect surprise! Her close friend Lizzie of S’Wonderful Photography was there to capture the entire thing!
From Emilee: As our 1 year anniversary approached and I watched others’ marriages around me struggle – I felt the strong desire, amidst everything, to set up a special moment for my husband and I to make those promises we made to each other a year ago… with some new additions now that we have a year under our belt. My husband always would say how much he just loved our wedding and how he wished he could do it again, so that’s what I set out to do!
When we first got engaged, we toyed with the idea of having a super small intimate outdoor wedding with only close family and a few friends somewhere in the woods with tons of romantic details and just super intimate. In reality, the guest list kept growing and we had to prioritize the details as the list grew, as so many other couples can relate to – I’m sure. So for this, I wanted to do just that. Super romantic, and full of personal details…
The wooden signs I painted have the song lyrics I walked down the aisle to at our wedding – Over The Rhine, “I Want You To Be My Love.”
All of the vendors who helped out for the shoot are gals that I am super close to that either were there on our wedding day, or couldn’t come to our actual wedding, so it was a special treat to have them help style as well as be our witnesses for the renewal.
And most importantly the vows were written by us. For our wedding we did standard vows that we picked out beforehand. I loved those vows, but I had always loved the idea of writing our own, I was just so nervous about doing it (I’m terrified of public speaking!) So, I made 2 little booklets and when the vintage car came to pick up my husband I had instructions on the inside for him to write down his promises to me and to our next year of marriage in it – he still had no clue what we were doing! :) I was so nervous that I wouldn’t find the words, but they totally came to me and thanks to my amazing friends (team) it turned out even more perfect than I could have imagined.
So sweet! Congrats to Emilee + Andy on celebrating one year!

Wow Jen, this is so crazy to see this on GWS!! What an honor – thank you so much. I’m tearing up just reading through this remembering how special this moment was. I could not have pulled it off without the amazing support of my dear friends/vendors and my wonderful husband for going along with all my crazy ideas =)
this is the sweetest ever!
This turned out beautiful Emilee! And I just love the story behind it ~ so honored to have been part of such a special event <3
This is so beautiful! Love her outfit, possibly for bridesmaids! Where did you find the skirt and top?
Thanks Chelsey! The top is from F21 from years ago… and the skirt is from Foreign Exchange
