Spring Garden-Inspired Vibiana Wedding: Joanie + Cale

Vibiana Wedding

You’ve gotta admit, that intro image has grabbed your attention. Giant balloons, a controlled amount of delicate greenery, soft, sage bridesmaid dresses + floral ties. Even aside from all the perfect design elements, Joanie + Cale had the right idea when pulling together the details for their big day: they wanted a relaxed celebration that focused on meaningful elements + thoughtful touches. Though the two of them acted as the ‘wedding planners’, by working with stylist, Rachael, from Lace & Likes, they were able to spotlight key details that made their day visually even better than they could have ever imagined. Joanie says:

We wanted to throw a simple and elegant wedding that felt like a reflection of who we are as a couple and what we value most; the people we love, amazing music, food and a kicking party. The ultimate theme running through the wedding was spring time garden – lots of greens, peach, pale pink and soft yellow. We picked a venue that was completely stunning on its own and needed very little in the way of decor. Once we saw The Vibiana (also featured in our Top 26 Coolest Places to Get Married) there was no going back, it was the perfect place for us.

Shout out to Luke + Katherine from Max and Friends for the gorgeous, gorgeous photos + congrats to the happy couple on a perfect day!

Not surprisingly, Moon Canyon nailed it with the florals. J’s bouquet, along with everything else, exemplified the spring garden feel to a T.

We don’t think we’ll ever (ever) tire of floral print ties! Cale customized his awesome tie with the team at Gold Coast Goods. Shop a few more of our faves below – and don’t miss our 2nd shopping guide – filled with more apparel + decor finds inspired by this wedding – a little bit further down in the post:

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Gosh, there are so many! We love to run together so we had an optional run through downtown LA in the morning for whoever wanted to join. It was such a nice way to start the morning and really set the tone for a laid back day of celebrating. We also snuck away to the balcony after the ceremony, before we went to cocktail hour, and had a glass of champagne together, it was really the only calm moment that we had for the rest of the evening and something that we’ll always remember. And our ceremony, it felt like absolute magic. It was golden hour and the light was perfect, everyone we loved had traveled to be there with us and I just remember feeling like the luckiest person in the world.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

We served as our own wedding planners which was the best/worst decision we could have made. If we had to offer advice it would be to scale back to the things that really matter and pay attention to the details because in the end that’s what will leave the most impact. Also, stick closely to your theme, you can’t have everything in one wedding, set clear inspiration at the beginning and don’t move away from that. And don’t go straight to Pinterest, talk with your fiancé and decide what you both care about and the mental pictures you have of your day. Create a budget and consider it before making any decisions, things add up and if you don’t keep track you will spend more then you have. Spend money on the things that matter, less on the cake and more on your out-of-state best friend’s plane ticket, that’s what matters in the end. And I highly recommend changing into a short dress for dancing, it was so much fun to wear a party dress and not have anyone stepping on my train.
