It’s no secret that we support the idea of an intimate elopement just as much as we love a big wedding! So we were pretty excited when we saw this beautiful editorial, dreamt up by Kathryn + Perry of Our Love Is Loud, pop into our inbox. Celebrating a small, spontaneous ceremony – or as K + P tell it, a morning celebration, just a bride and groom with their best friends…with coffee and doughnuts after! –  this feature is all about staying true to + doing what feels right to you as a couple! Let’s hear a little bit more backstory from Kathryn before checking out the beautiful photos:
The storyline of the shoot came from the idea of a couple deciding to elope one random weekend. The idea is they whip up some fun invitations (the ones we created were literally made from newsprint paper from an art store and printed on a home printer), email friends with details, buy a dress at a local boutique, rent an Airbnb for getting ready, call a couple restaurants in town, hop on a plane and make it happen.
A lot of times, the goal of an elopement is to eliminate extra stress and focus on what the day is really all about – you guys! In keeping with this mindset, Kathryn + Perry made the shoot’s invites from newsprint paper from an art store and printed them themselves on a printer at home.
We’re pretty into this setting, aren’t you? Perfect for a unique elopement. Every time Kathryn visited her local succulent shop, City Floral Greenhouse, she would envision the sweetest, intimate wedding ceremony taking place there. So she decided to take matters into her own hands + ask some friends (a real married couple) to pose for some photos and get the chance to renew their vows to one another in the process! Love it!
A greenhouse wedding calls for extra-cool flowers! And Beet & Yarrow definitely brought the cool! We l-o-v-e that magnolia leaf bouquet above and are swooning over that white king protea below!
We held a real cocktail hour with friends of the bride and groom at a local home decor shop called Ironwood Collective, and then had a family style dinner together down the street at Gozo. It was such an incredible night! We ended with toasts, coffee, and pie! It literally felt like a real wedding filled with excitement and meaning.
In closing the team says, We know that a big, expensive wedding shebang is not in the cards for everyone. This style of wedding/elopement is perfect for that adventurous couple who is perhaps looking to drop some serious cash on a month long honeymoon in Europe and would rather do something small for the I dos!
Big thanks to the very talented creatives below for showing us how it’s done!
