Pastels galore, pink and purple hues, pampas grass, cactus, and Southwestern-inspired details — those are just a few of the things we fell head over heels for at Mayce + Brad’s wedding! The moment we saw all the crazy cool styling by Candace Jolee Events (that is quintessentially California), we knew we had to share! Photographed by our gal, Katie Pritchard Photography, the details for the day captured the couple’s love of astronomy, animals, and all sorts of succulents.
M+B wanted their day to feel like one big dinner party; something outdoors, something cool and laid-back, with tons of comfort food, and with a major California meets Southwestern vibe. They found the perfect location at a private estate in Ojai… Mayce shares: Although we are both from Canada, Brad and I fell in love with everything Southern/Southwestern during a road trip to Texas. We wanted our guests (who were mostly from out of the country) to discover and share in the some of the things that we love most — the desert, southern food, and each other!
Let’s explore the grounds, shall we?
Rose gold, glitter, and they’re comfy? You bet these Kate Spade kicks are our FAVE!!
Cactus accents… Does it get any cooler than that?
Pampas grass, protea, thistle and more — we’re totally digging the color palette of this bouquet from Rogue and Fox Floral!
It was ALL about purple and pink pastel hues for the bridesmaids. So absolutely darling + these colors definitely play up those glorious Southwestern sunsets!
*SQUEEL of DELIGHT*
We absolutely LOVE when you can incorporate pets into the big day… Especially when they get to rock wedding day attire! A floral collar + a cactus bow tie? Too cute!
The Ceremony Space + Backdrop
Okay, how positively cool is moon-inspired backdrop?! Not only is it ombré and one stunning purple hue, but it’s framed by cactus, pampas grass, and desert plants galore! Candace Jolee Events shares: Rogue and Fox welded the perfect ring and together, we hand-dyed the backdrop! It was such a fun project to work on together.
Walking down the aisle with my mom and having so many of our loved ones who came from around the world surrounding us. It was so magical seeing my best friends and my future husband at the end of the aisle. It was amazing, and the love was absolutely overwhelming/overpowering. I'll never forget it!
Processional: Always (Piano Version) by Blink 182
Recessional: Wagon Wheel (Instrumental) by Darius Rucker
First Dance: Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett
Taking a moment together, post-ceremony, to soak it all in…
As for Mayce’s rockin’ dress? It’s from BHLDN! We adore the choice in suit color that Brad rocked, too.
The Reception + Tablescape
Watercolor delights! Mayce handcrafted all the signage + hand-dyed the napkins herself. Way to go, girl!
Now that’s a serious collection of vintage wooden chairs! Looking to rent something similar? Party Pleasers has got you covered!
The tables were lined with colorful pressed goblets from Nineteen 27 Vintage + an array of succulents + peachy pink florals.
You've heard it over and over and over again... But, 1) Do NOT stress about the small stuff and 2) Enjoy every moment at the wedding — it really flies by! I wish I spent less time on details, that in the end, didn't matter at all. Also, make sure that you are 100% clear with your vendors about what you want, so they can do the work and you don't end up doing anything BUT having fun at your wedding!
Congratulations, you two!! And best wishes on your grand adventure!
