Today’s bride really knows how to pick ’em. A gorgeous gown (and cape!), inspiring locations, talented vendors…and yeah, her groom! There is something about Nicole + Josh that feels absolutely effortless. You can feel the love they have for each other and their loved ones in their wedding photos. And with a dreamy background like Savannah, Georgia, there’s a hint of southern nostalgia that just feels so utterly romantic. Here’s what Nicole had to say about the day:
The biggest inspiration for our wedding day was to simply have it reflect us and our love. We are simple, goofy people so a traditional wedding just wasn’t in our cards. We both knew we wanted our closest friends and family to surround us and witness our union. My biggest desire was to have our day focus on our marriage and not our wedding. I focused more on the importance of our commitment and the value that marriage holds than the show a wedding can become. I think it’s really easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of making sure your wedding is this and that but we both just wanted people to be able to take away a piece of our love and, of course, eat good food and dance.
Nicole + Josh called on their friend, Sarah Joy Photo, to capture the day. Sarah was honored to photograph N+J, calling Nicole the most laid back, intentional bride she’s ever been around. We totally get that vibe from the sweet photos! Let’s have a look, shall we?
The First Look
It was absolutely our first look. I knew I always wanted to do one but I truly never could of been prepared for that moment. It was the best moment of my life. To work so hard and plan so hard to get to where your standing and then turn to see your person all dressed up ready to be yours forever is just the craziest thing. I cried like a little baby. I cannot begin to praise Sarah for getting every emotion in the first look photos. They are literally perfect.
They couple started at Wormsloe Historic Site for their first look + vow reading, then headed over to Chatham Square for a gorgeous ceremony in the park.
Bridal Party Style
Coolest bridesmaids EVER! The textures, colors, patterns— all so perfectly individual yet cohesive. LOVING this!
Also loving these moody bouquets, the handiwork of mea flowers.
The Wedding Dress
Such a beauty!
What a total dream girl!! Nicole looked effortlessly ethereal in the Reagan Gown and Anastasia Cape from BHLDN!
The Ceremony
So SO sweet!
Processional: Sweet Thing by Hozier (Van Morrison cover)
Recessional: One Dance by Drake
First Dance: May I Have This Dance by Francis and the Lights
YAY!
The Newlyweds
Do YOUR wedding YOUR way. I know it’s so easy to worry about table linens or what frosting you want on your cake but if you just don’t want to spend the money on it, don’t. If you don’t want to eat cake in front of a bunch of people, don’t. If you don’t want to spend a ton of money and would rather run to a mountain top and elope, DO IT. Weddings have turned into such a money eating industry and I hate that. I just want couple’s to know that it’s okay to break the rules and focus more on what reflects you as a couple and what you’ll never regret doing.
A bride rockin’ Vans is a friend of ours! Sarah gave us the super cute story behind Nicole’s shoes:
She wore her wedding shoes to their rehearsal dinner and they gave her SO many blisters. So, on the wedding day, she proudly rocked her vans + pizza socks! Not the original plan, but she rolled with it! I LOVE this part of the day, because it fits Nicole’s spunky personality PERFECTLY.
Nicole had one last sweet note to add about the day:
I just wanted to thank all my amazing vendors. They truly just did the most exceptional job. They made every piece of my day perfect and I can’t believe I got so lucky to have the literal best dream team.
Many congrats to Nicole + Josh!
