Earlier this morning we shared Katie + Jeremy’s ceremony and now we have their reception along with some pretty rad portraits! A bit about the reception from Katie…For the reception, we wanted it to have a Blues club feel. Drinks, good BBQ, and a relaxing atmosphere. Our design was based on a Southern, swampy, bayou feel so we included things like tumbleweed, Spanish moss, steer skull escort cards, and real fish netting found online.
Primary Petals totally understood what we wanted in flowers. I only asked for two things: anemones and dusty miller (but opposed all “traditional” flowers). Oh – and she also wrapped my bouquet in real snakeskin. Amazing!
Paying homage to my family’s time spent living in Dallas, Texas – I wanted to make steer skull escort cards.
And if you love these escort cards, Katie shared a DIY to make these here!
We wanted a different take on the “love is sweet” banner for our dessert table. So I bought some wooden letters off Etsy and painted them mint to go behind our table. It was definitely a sugar coma waiting to happen! Marie of Sweets Indeed created all these amazing southern-inspired desserts. Like banana bread pudding, praline cookies, mint julep cupcakes, and our favorite…beignets!
Prioritize the things that are important to you. Get your dude's input as often as you can. Start planning and DIYing early. Throw craft parties with your friends if needed (so helpful!). Have a coordinator - for sure! Pick the things that YOU want! We butted heads with family on a few things...but it was all worth it. Once the wedding was here and we were all hanging out, my parents said "You were right!" and understood the vision we had planned all along.
And of course, the #1 thing for us (Katie especially) - hire the best photographers for YOU! Do they match your style in the way they shoot? Could you hang out with them all day? (Cause they are there with you all day!) Some things are worth the money – and our photographers were everything we wanted!
We are both so grateful to our parents + friends for their support and help during this awesome experience! We’ll never forget it.

I love it all, every single, well thought-out detail. Kudos to you two for believing in your vision and standing up for it, it turned out so beautifully. Congrats again, Katie + Jeremy!
Thank you, Tracy!
I love this couples venue. It shows so much personality and you don’t need to spend a lot on decor as the place speaks for itself. the centerpieces go great with the brick backdrop.
This makes me so SO SO happy! Rico and I adore you both, Katie and Jeremy and we couldn’t have been happier to have been a part of such a beautiful day! xoxoxo
xoxo!
absolutely stunning. the florals are so romantic and pretty too!
What a fun, unique wedding! The couples personality is evident in the theme and decor! I love it! Thank you for sharing.
absolutely lovely! they totally nailed the vibe they were going for.
I don’t know what was more beautiful; the weather, the wedding itself, or the couple. I’m gonna go with the couple. Congratulations, Katie + Jeremy!!
xo,
Ashley
Thank you friend! Glad you were able to be there.
Thank you for sharing Jen. I loved providing flowers for Katie, and her style/vision was a treat to work with. Rarely do I get southern brides in DTLA, so when she asked me to make things mossy like a swamp, I was thrilled! It was a nice change of pace. Plus it’s great to work with a professional whose work you admire!
Loved having you, Samantha! xoxo.
BEAUTIFUL florals. The whole atmosphere seems to radiate their personalities. A nice fit!
Gorgeous images and beautiful wedding!
How cute is this~!
Bouquet is gorgeous!
Love the signs on the back of the bride & groom’s chairs!!
They were DIY’d! Super easy to make. Just free-handed the banner onto a piece of foam core and then sliced it out! Slap a little paint and voila!
As parents we were a little skeptical when hearing about some of the arrangements for Katie and Jeremy’s wedding. We didn’t need to be everything about it turned out to be beautiful and more than we could have wished for.
What a mom!
