Shipwrecked Winter Beach Wedding: Cortnie + Donny – Part 2

beach ceremony

Hopefully you caught part one of the wedding this morning – now it’s time for their ceremony by the sea! Their wedding day ended up being a gorgeous, foggy day that added a really romantic, ethereal vibe. Guests were taken down to the beach by a pedicab that had a large sign on the back with their bear logo and one of their favorite Dr. Suess quotes “oh the places we’ll go” on the back of them.

As guests neared the ceremony location there was a rustic wooden sign that said “Little Chapel by the Sea” with Cortnie’s nephew Thomas standing next to it and handing out programs from a vintage silver tray. Then guests walked down to the sandy beach in which they had Lucite ghost chairs for them to sit upon.

From Cortnie: I loved the idea of ghost chairs on the sandy beach because literally nothing was blocking the gorgeous view. We got married under an old vintage canopy bed that had been white washed and turned into a ceremony structure. I had even tiled pieces of mirrors to the legs of the bed to give it a glamorous edge and Studio Fiore twisted flowers into the structure and tables to give it that ‘washed ashore’ feel I was going for. I wanted guests to feel like we had all just stumbled upon this gorgeous ceremony structure. We propped an old church window onto a vintage table and got married in front of it. It was truly our own “little chapel by the sea”

Kristy Rice of Momental Designs created the ceremony programs. She hand drew and painted scenes of two bears dancing with silhouettes of boats in the background. I am in love with Chinoiserie textiles and paintings, so I had her draw a modern day Chinoiserie style print with our colors and elements from our wedding. This pattern made a ton of appearances throughout the wedding and tied together the nautical beachy vibe to the personal touch of the bears.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The ceremony was by far the most important aspect of the wedding to Donny and I. We spent a great deal of time talking to officiants and were referred to JP Reynolds. We met with him and clicked immediately. We have families from different religious backgrounds and he was able to tie their backgrounds together while weaving the history of our relationship into the ceremony so perfectly. He came up with really creative ways to involve all of our family members too. He made our ceremony extremely touching and special. All of the guests at our wedding said it was one of the most touching and spiritual ceremonies they had ever been to.

Seriously, how cute is this wedding party!?!! The flower girls wore dresses from an online store in Europe. The ring bearers wore different outfits that all matched. The tweed jackets, vests and hats were from Zara. The different ties and bow ties were from various etsy stores. And their pup, Bubba!! So cute.
