Seaside Surfer Wedding with Rad Spanish + Tropical Design Details

Spanish Tropical Inspired Wedding

She’s a free-spirited adventurer with a sweet spot for fashion, he’s a surfer who’s love for family runs deep — together, Bree + Brock are a literal California dream come true! They planned a seaside wedding inspired first by those who mean the most to them, punctuated with plenty of color, laughter, tears, and a Spanish-tropical design. It’s safe to say that we’re in love with these two and their rad style! Laura at Fawn Events agrees, and brought her planning expertise to this downright dreamy day!

Before we jump into the photos, Bree gave us some insight into the wedding inspiration:

We wanted to make sure that the wedding reflected both our personalities, style, and love for our family. Brock grew up surfing and spending summers in Mexico, so we definitely wanted to be married near the water. We fell in love with our venue, Darlington House, in La Jolla. Darlington House has so much history, is one street from the ocean, could fit our 200-person guest list and featured the Spanish architecture that we love. We were married on a Friday which allowed us to have a full weekend with our guests, hosting a giant beach party on Saturday while cooking and relaxing. We love hosting parties so our wedding was the perfect blend of romance and fun!

Ready to join the party? Let’s have a look at the photos from Logan Cole Photo!

The emotions were at an all-time high the entire weekend. We were both ecstatic about finally being married and being surrounded by people who have poured into our lives separately and as a couple. It was a wave of emotions seeing Brock for the first time when I walked down the aisle, all of the planning, waiting and excitement was finally unveiled. We were crying, laughing, uncontrollably giggling and then crying again throughout the entire ceremony and reception.

Carley’s Corner

Other than our love, we also chose to focus the wedding on Brock’s sister and our family angel, Carley. Carley was obsessed with love, weddings, and finding her true Prince Charming. She wrote poetry about love and spoke about it with such magic. We had one of Carley’s poems, “Love Is,” read by her best friends during our ceremony, acrylic printed poems placed throughout the venue, and an amazing poetry corner, aka “Carley’s Corner,” during the cocktail hour where The Haiku Guys typed out personalized haikus for every single guest as favors.

We love Carley’s poem so much that we even incorporated it into the beginning of our wedding film. It was very important for us to have Carley physically at our wedding and the poetry made that possible.

Double Dipped Calligraphy helped Bree + Brock turn Carley’s poems into darling displays throughout the reception. We think this is such a beautiful way to honor someone!

The more flowers the better — and Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. agrees with this cute cake!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

My advice for other brides is to enjoy every single step and remember the reason you're getting married is because of your love for each other. At the end of the day, it is about both of you and your love. Don’t compare your wedding to other people's budget! It is hard to see some weddings published on social media when your budget is not endless (who’s is?!), so don’t subconsciously compete with your friends or Pinterest. Have comfort in knowing that all it is really about is LOVE. Oh, and make sure you eat! Luckily my bridesmaids were reminding me to eat all morning!

Costume change! Because why hang a disco ball when you can BE a disco ball?
