Some couples bond over a shared love of sports. For others, an interest in travel or fashion may bring them together. In the case of Sabrina and Belal, food is what brought them together! They met working at a catering company six years ago and now own their own food business, Platedate. Platedate provides private chef services including weekly meal prep, healthful meals for kids, and nutrition coaching for the whole family – in fact, they used all their own recipes for their wedding! LOVE IT!
They also share a love of travel which culminated in a worldly-inspired wedding day. Out of all of the cultures they experienced together, the couple felt most inspired to have a wedding influenced by Scandinavian style, with a glamping twist and this was Sabrina’s vision for the day – which she planned + designed! We just love a creative bride here at GWS!! :)
The couple married back in New York at Gilbertsville Farmhouse. Because ultimately, there’s no place like home! Love in New York
Why have a one-day wedding when you can do three?! Belal and Sabrina let the spirit of their love for travel permeate throughout their entire wedding. Between the “packing list”, landscape illustration, and multiday getaway theme, it was a hit!
Sabrina wore a custom gown by Pronovias.
I had a vision of looking like a goddess walking down the aisle. Think large wings, white simplicity, no-frills, or too much glam. Then, I wanted a minimal look into the night where I could remove my wings and my dress turned into a simple open-back wedding dress. Still felt like a queen!
The weekend started with a slew of fun activities for guests. Day one included check-in, where guests settled into their glamping tents. Later on in the day, there was BBQ, football, and even goat yoga! And to top it off? A pizza truck and ice cream.

Barnyard Promises
While the couple originally planned to be married on the mountain of the property, rain had other plans for them. The vendor team was able to beautifully put together this bohemian/Scandinavian aesthetic inside the barn. Complete with hay bales as seats!
A cowhide rug and triangular wedding arch perfectly tied in the boho theme.

The couple’s dogs, Mookie and Akoya, were the ring bearers! Or should we say puppers instead?! And how cute is that I Loved Her First sign?!!
Sabrina looked absolutely breathtaking as she walked down the aisle. Between the crown, the wings, and the flowers, it’s hard to pick one favorite part!
We had a mixed religion wedding (Jewish-Muslim), so we did the Hora, and then we did the Dabke dance with a belly dancer.

The couple reveled in the afterglow of their wedding ceremony by spending a little time with their pups. They deserve extra treats for the great job they did!

Indoor World Tour
The couple’s seating chart was labeled by some of their favorite locations in the world. Colorado, Sri Lanka, and Australia are only a few!
The reception area was a Scandinavian (and Lord of the Rings!) dream. The wooden details felt incredibly intimate and cozy, while faux fur-lined chairs kept guests plenty warm throughout the night.
Hire TWO day-of coordinators. There is so much going on, so much to do and you CAN NOT rely on one human being to do everything.
The tables were beautifully decorated with white and jewel-toned details. The perfect contrast!
Belal and Sabrina’s sweetheart table was a couple’s dream! An explosion of flowers created a romantic vibe perfect for stealing kisses between saying hello to guests.
We had a few!
- Walking down the aisle seeing each other for the first time to our favorite Mumford and Sons song
- Having our best friend marry us
- Our first dance, which we practiced for weeks
- Mookie + Akoya walking down the aisle with our rings (our dogs)!
- Starting the day with dancing and yoga by our favorite NYC instructor with all of our friends
- Crowd surfing on the dance floor amongst all our friends
The good vibes don’t stop there! Guests were treated to an exciting show of fire dancers during the receptions.
