True inspiration can come from anywhere and, as far fetched as it may sound, the designer from today’s woodsy winter editorial – captured by A Sea of Love – was inspired by the tall tale of Paul Bunyon! Megan from Celebrate Colorfully asks, What do we know about Paul Bunyon? Well, he’s a legendary, towering lumberjack with an affinity for pancakes and a blue ox named Babe. We pulled together the most amazing group of creatives to take this off-beat theme and turn it into the most perfect modern-meets-woodsy wedding inspiration you’ve ever seen.
I took key elements from the legend and translated them into a backstory for our couple. Our groom is an outdoorsman who still loves his flapjacks and our bride is a doe-eyed beauty who can rock a pale blue dress (or two) like no one’s business.
We’re kinda digging this casual groom look! And if not for the wedding, we think it would work great for engagement photos! Shop our Paul Bunyon inspired guide for your guy below!

We love the darker hues of this tablescape which contrast beautifully against the airy space at White Sparrow Barn. To create visual interest, Jubilee Flower Co. used natural elements like wood, but also added copper, marble, and lots of lush greenery to create a high-end flourish.
The 4 unique cakes by Whisk Until Sweet look almost too good to be true! Megan shares, Three of those beauties are cakes dressed to perfection. The last cake can be nothing but a tall stack of pancakes for our groom. Paul Bunyon wouldn’t have it any other way.
And we’ve fallen hard for the bride’s gorgeous blue gowns, both from a & be bridal shop.
Such a gorgeous editorial, don’t you think? We never thought we’d hear ourselves say it, but Paul Bunyon turned out to be a great source of wedding inspiration!
Thanks so much to the very talented team below for sharing this project with us today!

I absolutely loved doing hair and makeup for this shoot and collaborating with this beyond fabulous group was an honor! Thank you green wedding shoes for loving this as much as we do!
So in LOVE with this shoot! I die for a blue dress and this Tara LaTour dress is my all time favorite (which sadly was is not mentioned in the story). However what is even more amazing about this shoot is that Paul Bunyon and Tara LaTour are both MN darlings! Having a boost of some MN pride!
Could anyone provide information on the groom’s formal look (gray jacket, maroon pants, and blue tie)?
Hi Dori!
I’m the stylist for the shoot. The pants, jacket, and shirt for the groom’s formal look are all from H&M! The tie and his shoes are items the model brought. Hopes this helps! :)
I really love the makeup. It’s so beautiful! The groom must have been lucky!
Adorable wedding shoot. both are looking very beautiful. I love the bride dress and hair style. Thanks for sharing such awesome shoot with us.
Great wedding photos & great ideas! I’ll show my fiancee!
