Shelly is from San Diego + JJ is from Montana, but they met and currently live in Texas, so they were open to getting hitched in any of those locales. After weeks of searching online for venues, they came across The Plant at Kyle (in Kyle, Texas) and it was love at first sight! The modern structure of the house, set against the rustic hill country landscape, was the perfect backdrop for the wedding they had always imagined. And we love that they weren’t afraid to use that juxtaposition throughout the design, too, and incorporate clean-lined details, industrial touches + punchy pops of color, all of which were a super fun contrast to the pastoral setting. Let’s hear a bit more about the day from Shelly:
Designing our wedding was a lot of fun. We wanted guests to walk away feeling that the wedding was thoughtful and personal. One of my favorite details was the incorporation of geodes. JJ is a geophysicist, and I work in fashion, so we made our two worlds collide, by using a picture of a geode as the background for our invite, having chic agate bookends as part of the tablescape, and by adding mini agate slices in the boutonnières. Seeing our labor of love come together was so special, and made everything that much more beautiful and intimate. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!

Siren Floral Co. might have produced one of our new fave bouquets with that beauty above! It includes a colorful array of garden roses, poppies, anemones + more. So pretty, right?
Isn’t it crazy how mismatched dresses can sometimes look so perfect + cohesive?! These super sweet red + purple bridesmaid frocks were scooped up at Haute Hippie, Ali Ro, Victoria’s Secret, J. Crew, Madewell, + Zappos!

Shelly: Walking back up the aisle and those first few moments after being pronounced Mr. and Mrs, were so joy-filled and precious. Laughing and celebrating with our bridal party was a very sweet memory.
JJ: Seeing Shelly walk down the aisle. She worked so hard on the wedding, and looked so beautiful. It was overwhelming.

Our Advice
My advice is actually advice that I read from another GWS post: We immediately created an email account to use just for the wedding, which made everything much easier to sort through and organize. Also, create a fun hashtag for your wedding, and be sure to include it on your website, in programs, and on signage. A few of my favorite pictures are some captured by guests. Plus, it’s fun to see some pictures the next day, before you get your professional ones back.
