Happy Monday, friends! How’s 2015 treating you so far? We’re excited to jump right into this fresh, new year with a beautiful wedding designed by the pros at Sterling Social + captured on camera by Braedon Photography. Paul, a New York native, and Julie, a California girl, met by chance one evening through friends on New York’s Fire Island. Hours of innocent conversation revealed they shared key interests like the ocean, all foods (except scallops), travel, family and football. Over the course of the next six months, friendship led to love, they began building a life together on the East Coast, and plans for their dream wedding were underway.
After their engagement, Julie had one final task to complete on the West Coast – their wedding! With the opportunity to lure their East Coast friends + family to the beaches of California, the two decided that a Santa Barbara wedding (at one of our personal fave venues, Rancho Dos Pueblos) would be just right…
To keep with a rustic, quintessential California feel, JL Designs designed olive branch bouquets for the bridesmaids and a classic white + green bouquet for Julie.
The inspiration for the entire celebration came from a family heirloom, Paul’s great-grandmother’s ring, which he gave to Julie as a Christmas present. Sterling Social shares, The ring was emerald and diamond, so Julie picked the colors and feel for their wedding from that emerald. The hues of the wedding included an organic palette of ivory, bronze, eggplant and of course that gorgeous green.
Pretty, pretty Amsale bridesmaid dresses.
Love the beachfront ceremony decor + that Julie arrived by vintage car – a 1951 Ford Woodie!
From Sterling Social, With the sun shining bright, guests were invited to a beachfront cocktail reception complete with lawn games and oysters on the half shell. As a nod to Paul’s East Coast upbringing and the couple’s summer home on Fire Island, they wanted their cocktail reception to be playful with a preppy flair.
The naturally rustic setting quickly transformed into an elegant retreat filled with ethereal drapery and chandeliers strung with bay leaf garland. After finding their names scrolled on vintage doors, guests found their seats for the family-style dinner at tables adorned with herb and floral collections in combinations of weathered stone pots and cut crystal decanters. To make the barn feel like home, various eclectic vignettes were set for guests to relax and enjoy late night treats.
How cool is the hay bale lounge above? And we always love it when the adorable Enjoy Cupcakes trailer makes a cameo at weddings! The cutest :)
After dancing the night away, guests were sent home with warm chocolate chip cookies, mini cartons of milk and wished “Sweet Dreams” by the new Mr. and Mrs.
