Shall we begin the week with a little romance? Introduced by their respective siblings who believed the two would perfect for each other, Alex + Garrett first started chatting over DMs on Instagram. In less than no time, Garrett–in California–had a strong impression that Alex–in Texas–would one day become his wife. So he took a wild chance and recorded their first conversation over FaceTime…just in case. Fast forward to the pair’s wedding day, Garrett presented Alex with the recording, along with a card he’d picked up the very first day they hung out! (See her reaction in the video at the end of this post and cue to collective “Aw!” heard ’round the internet!)
After years of flights, FaceTime calls, and texts over long-distance, they were finally wed in their happy place, Joshua Tree.
Here’s what Alex had to say about the day: Our inspiration was the desert. We went there often while we were dating long-distance to hike and just be out in the silence among the sand and rocks. We love the feel and vibe of the earth and it was just so special to be with each other, spending time alone out there to reconnect after long times apart. For our wedding, we just wanted to be surrounded by family and a few close friends. We only had about 30 people and it was fantastic, so laid back and relaxing. It was truly beautiful and everything we wanted.
India Earl Photography captured the stunning photos from the day. Let’s jump in!
Just regal!
Alex wore a custom gown by Melissa Glenn Designs.
Don’t you love her gilded glow?! Alex called on Hair & Makeup by Syd to create the look. And that double-banded metallic headpiece? It was handmade in France by Mignonne.
Garret’s burgundy suit is from ASOS and his bowtie is Brackish Bowtie’s.
The most memorable moment was when I came around the big rock where we were wed with my sweet dad in the soft sand. I can still feel the brisk wind in my hair and the evening sunset against my back as I walked around to see my beloved husband. He was so handsome and his eyes were so bright. It was like REAL magic and I see it in my dreams all the time. I wish I could get married to him over and over and over again. I wouldn't change a thing.
Love!

These colors! The tones of the bouquet by Hart Floral are giving us life right now!
The beautifully crafted pieces by Hart Floral didn’t stop with the bouquet–we LOVE how the colors of the reception blooms keep the dessert vibe even after the ceremony.
Do it all how you want and don't listen to anyone's advice if you don't like it. Be about you and your love; you won't regret it.
Also: if you love being outside and nature, totally get married in a national park. It's an experience that I can't even describe. It's also low, low, low cost. Seriously, your wedding does not have to be expensive if you just remember why you're getting married. Focus on the important stuff, be intentional in how you spend your money, and think about what will contribute to the beauty of your day, not distract. Also, Airbnbs and national parks are great for receptions and weddings because they are usually low cost and unbelievably beautiful. I felt like a queen but didn't spend my cash like a queen. I didn't have to! Even if I had a million bucks for my wedding, I wouldn't change a thing. It was perfect and special and us. It was a dream.
