With today being Mardi Gras, what better way to celebrate than with a little bit of pretty inspiration based around this fun holiday! Today’s shoot, photographed by Krista Mason, marries the edginess of burlesque with the rich details of Mardi Gras, and boasts a dynamic palette of black, gold, and radiant orchid. A lovely color story for a Winter 2014 wedding perhaps?! Let’s hear more from Christina of Simply Modern Weddings, the brains + styling talent behind this one:
Being creole, New Orleans and Mardi Gras is in my blood, so I ran with this dark, rich, burlesque, edgy spin on classic southern traditions. The reoccurring theme we kept coming back to was feathers, lace, and masquerade. I love the mystery of burlesque feather fans and we were lucky to have Fancy Feather create beautiful black ostrich feather fans for us to use at the altar area. These could also be a great alternative to a bridesmaid bouquet. Archive Rentals created a “chapel meets home” ceremony setup by using a mix of wooden pews and plush tufted armchairs that looked so beautiful in the space.
The Loft on Pine, in Long Beach, was the perfect backdrop for a Mardi Gras fête with its romantic curves of iron, rich wood details, and exposed brick walls.
Super in love with this gorgeous Krista Jon floral creation! It’s wild + crazy in the best of ways. Kind of like Mardi Gras! ;)
And this incredibly pretty cake by Sweet and Saucy really pulls everything together!
Thanks so much to the talented team of creatives below for sharing their work with us today + happy Mardi Gras, guys + gals!
