Charlene loves the natural, organic feel of the great outdoors. Bryan has a deep affinity for architecture. And their two loves came together perfectly for their sunny September wedding, held at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California. Their day felt warm, personable and unique, complete with I Dos under the canopy of lush olive trees and an architecturally-inspired reception space with modern, wooden cabanas being the cornerstone of the design scheme.
This adorable duo worked with the talented team at Lady Liberty Events to create a celebration that was a complete reflection of the two of them and the LLE crew cut no corners in making sure the day was just right. Charlene shares, Liberty spent so much time with both of us learning who we were as a couple and as individuals, that she was able to tap into our personalities and help create moments that really mattered. We loved how guests moved from area to area at each point of the wedding, keeping them excited for what was to come. Knowing that the entrance to the reception was a big one for me, Liberty designed an escort display that gave our guests a purpose. (And we love it, too! Wait ’til you see!)
Let’s get right to the good stuff; aka the photos below by Braedon Flynn!
Charlene carried a white + green anemone + rose bridal bouquet by Moon Canyon Design – simple, but just so gorgeous!
Liberty of Lady Liberty Events tells us about a super cute feature of C + B’s ceremony, Charlene & Bryan enjoy their wine time together, we had a custom wooden box made with their initials and wedding date engraved into it. Prior to the ceremony, they each wrote a letter to one another for them to read on their 10th anniversary. During the ceremony, they laid the envelopes in the wine box and together they held the key and locked it. I always love trying to incorporate details that give back to the couple at a later date. How fun that they have something so special, meaningful, and delish to share on their ten year anniversary!!
Love-love-loving these bridesmaids in pretty pastel periwinkle dresses!
And another fun detail paying homage to the couple’s love for wine was included in the reception. Liberty says, Charlene and Bryan pretty much have a nightly ritual that they like to call “Wine Time”. With all of their friends knowing that they have totally coined this phrase, we knew we had to incorporate this somewhere. We had a huge reclaimed wood cork holder made with a custom monogramed glass front which hung below the white acrylic Wine Time sign (made by Prim & Pixie). Charlene and Bryan started collecting wine corks (friends and families also helped them out!) so that we can utilize them for guests to sign and drop into the cork box. The unsigned corks were displayed in various apothecary jars until they were dropped into the main cork box. Charlene & Bryan could then hang this up at home, and continue the tradition of Wine Time for years to come!
As guests entered the barn, a glowing display of flickering candles were set under a hanging laser cut sign that said “You light up our lives”. Each candle was personalized to every guest and included their table number, directing him or her to his or her seat. As the guests exited the barn, all holding their candles, walking down the luminary lit pathway, the glow of loved ones heading to the reception was remarkable. Place cards were strategically placed at each setting also noting to “place your candle here” directing guests to set their candles accordingly. This finished the tablescape adding an extra glisten to the overall table design.
Charlene closes with these fun words about her + Bryan’s first dance, For our first dance, it was one of my dreams to be surrounded by all of the drama created from a sea of sparklers. So we appropriately started our dance with one of our all time favorite classics “Beyond The Sea” by Bobby Darin. Slowly dancing together, really taking in the moment and watching our friends and family sparking around us, it was perfection. The music changed, we parted arms, grabbed our sparklers and twirled around the dance floor to “The Promise” by When In Rome. This totally completed our John Hughes high school soundtrack fantasy.
We just love it! Big thanks to Charlene + Bryan for sharing their gorgeous day and to the talented vendor team below for all their hard work!
