Romantic Cliffside Bali Wedding: Trish + Sid

Cliffside Bali Wedding

Happy Friday, guys + gals! We thought Trish + Sid’s g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s destination wedding in Bali would be the perfect way to sail into the weekend – it seriously gives us equal parts wanderlust + wedding envy! Planning from afar made it essential to have a helping hand, so T + S relied on Cher Ange for planning + coordination, and hired Gloriosa Flower House to create a super romantic mood for the night. Trish dreamt up all of the ethereal details, and entrusted Samm Blake of The Wedding Artists Collective to travel out to Khayangan Estate to capture it all!

Trish says, Sid and I are from two different countries, and our friends and family are scattered all over the world. Everyone would’ve had to travel anyway, so we invited everyone to Bali for what we hoped would be an epic holiday weekend. One of our favourite things about Bali is the fantastic culinary scene, so we kicked off on Friday night with welcome drinks at Merah Putih, one of the island’s best Indonesian restaurants. We’d planned to wrap up relatively early but we were having such a great time that we ended up staying until midnight – it really set the tone for the next day.

Trish designed all of the paper goods herself (and says designing the invites was one of her favorite parts of the whole wedding process). Katherine, of Script Merchant, lent her calligraphy talents to the suite.

I chose a loose, dreamy colour scheme of dark + dusty blues, greens and purples, together with white, grey and gold. We love modern design, so we tried to incorporate contemporary, industrial details while letting the incredible natural setting take centre stage. We chose a few modern elements – geometric lanterns, string bulbs, and hexagonal gold vases – and kept the rest of the decor organic, with lots of lush greenery and soft, textural florals. I really wanted grey napkins, so my mother had them custom-made, and one of my bridesmaids brought in an entire box of vases from Thailand since I couldn’t find anything similar for rent in Bali.

M&M Innovative Concepts served a sit-down menu of lobster, lamb and mahi-mahi, followed by a spectacular dessert buffet. It was a beautiful, breezy evening on the cliffs of Uluwatu, and the brilliant food and drinks (Sid assembled a top-notch whisky bar) put everyone in a party mood. The dance floor was flat out raging until the end of the night!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The end of the night, as the last song wound down, surrounded by all our friends going crazy – it was an amazing, surreal moment. (Sid got thrown into the pool shortly after!)

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Focus on the things your guests will notice: if they're fed, watered, entertained and comfortable, they'll have a great time – and you will too. Hire photographers and videographers that you love, because they'll be with you all day. Also, our wedding planner told us shots would get the party started, and she was totally right.
