Dried Hydrangeas + Black Tie Attire for this Rock Quarry Wedding in Tennessee

Tennessee Rock Quarry Wedding

This fashionable military couple chose to honor their love of nature at their Rock Quarry wedding in Tennessee. Andrea + Mike celebrated Autumn-style with dried hydrangea (which has a special significance for M), hand-torn paper goods, 100s of homemade chocolate chip cookies, and a warm color palette of beige, rose and antique blue. With the event planning help of The Quarry Venue, they planned a cozy and inviting day that honored the love and support they’ve received over the years from family + friends. A shares:

We both love being outside, especially in the mountains, and we have both been incredibly fortunate to be supported by our family and friends across the globe in our military career. Finding The Quarry with its many beautiful natural outdoor locations was a blessing. Aesthetically, I wanted to have simple, natural and dried florals to highlight the surrounding beauty and incorporate as much of our personalities as possible.

MorningWild Photography was there to capture some beautiful moments. Let’s take a look!

A’s mountain- inspired wedding invitations come from friend and graphic designer, Grace Rudder Design. One of her wedding DIY’s was hand-tearing every edge with her sister!

As we mentioned above, dried hydrangeas were very important to A + M. Not only do we adore the sentiment, but we also think they look perfect for a golden-hued Fall Wedding!

I specifically wanted dried hydrangeas because Mike’s dad grew them in Mike’s childhood, and we both loved the golden color they turn in the fall. Rose Moss Designs blew all my expectations out of the water with her beautiful florals, and we were able to rent a number of the pieces from her to maximize sustainability.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

One of my favorite moments was walking down the long path with my dad as Cole played the second verse of “Amazing Grace” and seeing Mike next to the arch of golden hydrangeas.

The father/daughter song, “Cowboy in Me” by Tim McGraw, was a surprise for my dad. My sister/MOH, Hannah, and I played soccer together in high school, and my dad was our coach. When we played well and won an away game, he would play it and sing with us on the bus ride home. I was already so excited to surprise my dad with the song, and then Hannah surprised us both by accompanying Cole on the violin. We were overcome with emotion during that song – it was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever been a part of and tears were shed by all of my normally very stoic family.

A + M had a lot of sweet, DIY elements to their day! In a lot of ways, they were able to honor friends and family in this way. They share:

I worked with a friend and graphic designer to create our monogram – it’s an A + M shaped to look like a mountain ridge. Hannah and I hand-tore all of the invitations, place cards, and table cards. I did the calligraphy on the place cards, the welcome sign mirror, and the bar signs. My godmother made over 200 chocolate chip cookies as our wedding favor. We cut the cake with my dad’s Marine Corps sword which he passed down to me.
