JAC Photographers sent me the beautiful, relaxed backyard wedding of Megan + Simon. The wedding was at Megan’s parent’s home in Palos Verde, CA – and their backyard looks over the ocean! Lucky them :)
Megan let each of her girls pick out their dresses in the blue color family – turned out perfect!
Stationary was all done by Megan + Simon. They came up with the orange swirly icon and incorporated it into all of their print materials, including a hand carved and hand painted sign that the groom made himself! (the arrow wedding sign)
The ceremony was held in the backyard, when it was finished, the caterers transformed the same area to the dining area for the reception. The guests were to go to the front of the house for cocktail hour. It worked out so well! The bride and groom also collected succulents all year from the farmer’s market and the mother of the bride planted them all until she had enough for all the centerpieces throughout the wedding!
I’m also including photos of a handmade gift that we include for our brides. I premake the folio and attach polaroids that we take polaroids from a medium format camera. We present them to the couple so that they can take actual photos with them from their day to their honeymoon!
What a great idea! I love this as I remember on our honeymoon, I often thought about our photos wondering how they turned out :)

I love the folio, what a sweet idea!
I love the handmade gift with the polariod photos in it,great idea! What I also admire is the bride's handmade pearl necklace made by her mom (very sentimental) which matched the bride's Tiffany&Co; pearl earrings. What I found most unique and amazing was the food being grilled right at the reception,so fresh and inviting to the taste buds of the wedding guests.Over-all it's a perfectly great wedding!!!
The succulent centerpieces are perfect for this outdoor wedding! They look very chic.
LOVE your blog, stumbled across it through another one – it's making this boring Sunday a very entertaining and relaxing one.
I had to comment on this though, I only wish I could find something as stunning as this backyard in Australia.. yet alone have it at the back of my (or parents) house.
The intimacy and cosy-ness is so easy when it's held in a backyard.
Hey… beautiful pics..
Jen, thanks you for posting the beautiful picture of the bridesmaid's bouquets. I have a wedding coming up next month and was struggling with options for the bridsmaid's dress color of 'Azalea' and there in your picture is a beautiful combination. I will use Rustique and Creme de La crem roses, add a touch of green hypericum and pop in sunflower guts. I love it!
