Happy Monday everyone! The talented Kirsten Ellis of Beaux Arts Photographie sent me this lovely wedding to share with you all today. Gorgeous photography and a beautiful ceremony location in Santa Barbara, CA. Kelly Oshiro (the event coordinator) was kind enough to send over a few words about the wedding, Laurie & Matt hail from Boston and originally we’re going to get married in upstate New York, but because of some family health issues, Santa Barbara was picked as a closer location to the family in LA. Since they both loved that east coast look, I took them to the Santa Barbara Club. Its one of the oldest private clubs on the West Coast. The building was built in 1904 and has gorgeous wood work, formal spaces, very much like you’d find in an old building in New York. The really wanted the mood to be like a fabulous supper club, so we hired a fabulous jazz band, Nova Jazz and The club served four courses to guests.”
From Kelly, The ceremony location was the Courthouse, which has gorgeous architectural detail and was only two blocks from the reception site. It was a blended Catholic and Jewish ceremony and Laurie sang the prayer over the kiddish cup and was so beautiful and personal. My favorite fun little detail was having guests taken to the and from the ceremony in pedicabs. It was a fun alternative to having guests walk and it made from some great photos.
Our ceremony had been at sunset. After we had a couple of moments to ourselves “backstage,” we came out to see the arch of the courthouse bathed in lights. The sky held the last color of the day and, as Matt remarked, it was the exact blue of our invitations. The twilight sky formed a beautiful backdrop for the lit facade and the path of luminaries leading to the arch. We had the beauty of the place and that fleeting time of day all to ourselves. It was so special to have that quiet moment before joining the energy and tumult of the reception.
I love the color and style of their invitations and other paper goods by Carrie Siegel at Two Trick Pony.
Laurie described her wedding as classic but modern design; a retro-chic jazz feel. A super dinner party with an emphasis on local food and drink, good conversations, and a classic jazz backdrop.
From Laurie, Don't be afraid to suggest far-fetched ideas, they can develop and transform into great ideas through the course of a conversation. Our best ideas usually came in last 15 minutes of our meetings. Find vendors with a good sense of design, concentrate on communicating your style and let them do their thing to bring it life.
Every single one of our vendors was fabulous and exceeded our expectations. I'm sure everyone says that, but I can rave about each of them.
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely wedding with us! Congrats again to Laurie + Matt.

Hi Everyone–thank you for all the gracious compliments! We are so thrilled to be featured on such a fab blog and give props to our vendors!!
FYI, Matt's socks are also Paul Smith (his suit too) from Barneys. And I forgot to mention that the cupcakes are from Crushcakes in Santa Barbara. They came in awesome flavors and they happily piped all the frostings to match by my request. I'm happy to answer any other questions. Cheers!
Your wedding was absolutely beautiful – we are actually looking at the club for upcoming nuptuals – any insight to share?
I love how the paper elements and the cake go together! So lovely!
The photography is awesome and picks up the beautiful details of the wedding! You can tell that there was great forethought by all the vendors involved to coordinate such a beautiful wedding.
What flowers did you use in your centerpieces and bouquets? They are gorgeous? Are they coral and orange?
Hi Laurie,
How many people were at your wedding? Looks lovely!

This looks like it was one gorgeous wedding! I love weddings in Santa Barbara, there are so many great locations, it must be hard to choose! I was just in town at a friends wedding at the Zoo and it was so much fun! We all stayed at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). So budget friendly and close to all the action of Santa Barbara.
Santa Barbara is the perfect place to hold special events of any kind, especially weddings. The atmosphere is so great and it makes any time a good one! I love spending time in SB, it’s always so much fun. Always stay at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So elegant and the best place to call home while on vacation.
