Quintessential LA Engagement: Nisha + Brandon

LA Engagement

We like to think engagement sessions are the perfect chance to do a couple of important things: meet your wedding photographer, warm up to the camera and have fun creating photos that truly represent the two of you! And while we probably don’t need to point out the obvious, we will anyway – today’s city session is all that and more.

Young, creative, natural and carefree, the engagement photos that Sidney Morgan captured of this adorable duo, Nisha + Brandon, truly reflect their LA lifestyle in such a fun and authentic way. Nisha goes on to add that the photos were also quite frankly, cool as hell. Agree, agree, agree! Let’s see the photos…

We started in our own home that I styled and decorated myself going through our daily routine. Coffee, laughs, the best dog you’ll ever meet, and sweatpants!

My fiance and I just opened a photo studio in Echo Park, so being new transplants to the neighborhood, we saw it fitting that we explored the community on foot. How we met was something we’d never forget, our first date came to a quick end when Brandon was hit by a car right in front of me on our way out to this event in downtown LA! I called the ambulance… and the rest is history ;-p

(The full story of how they met is at the end of the post, so don’t miss it!)

Nisha says, Our story is quite the fairytale in a way so I’m happy to share it….

Brandon and I met through our mutual friend, Saul. Saul is a creative manager for multimedia and advertising for Skechers Shoes, and met Brandon on set of a Skechers commercial which Brandon was acting/modeling in. A week later, Saul invites Brandon to our friends boat in Marina Del Rey for Memorial Day weekend, and at the time, I was actually still in a relationship. Its hard not to notice Brandon in a crowd, much more so on a boat (which he barely fit in, being almost 6’4). We said hello, he was very polite, I admired him from a far because of how strikingly good looking he was, but that was pretty much the extent of our initial conversation and meeting.

A month later, I’m recently single ready to mingle, and Saul and are hanging out talking about who he thinks I would like. He said, “Remember my boy, Brandon? He was on Joey’s boat… I think you’d like him”. Im like “Who?”… I check his Instagram, follow him, see a photo, and give Saul the look. Like.. um YEAH. Hook that up.

Anyway, a few days later, randomly, I get a DM in Instagram from Brandon. Applauding me and my photography, being very nice and respectful. I didn’t know he was even interested in me until I just bluntly asked him! Im definitely the more direct one in a relationship. You’ll never play the guessing game with me haha

So we exchange numbers, text each other for an entire week, he’s distracting me at work, all I can think about is him, and we finally plan to hang out the following weekend. We decided to meet up at Saul’s house, along with some other friends to go to some warehouse party in Downtown LA.

Now this is the FIRST time we ever get to hang out. The moment I see him walk through the doors, I got butterflies and I knew it wasn’t just his good looks that was getting to me. I felt a connection, especially after all the conversations we’ve been having through out the week.

We talk, we smile, we laugh, and were ready to go out and party, so we call an Uber and wait outside. Saul pulled his car out of the driveway to move it to a spot on the street before our ride comes and pulled over to the curb.

Now keep in mind, this is a residential street, around 11:57pm.

Brandon walks up to his drivers side door to talk to Saul, and out of nowhere, a black car comes racing down the street, smashing into Sauls drivers side door, and in between him and Brandon, running over his leg! There were about 10 of us there who saw it happen right infront of our eyes, we heard a loud clash and everyone is panicking, trying to stop the driver, but he weaves around the crowd of us in the street, and speeds away.

It was a hit and run, and Brandon was run over, laying in the street. I swear it was the scariest moment of my life. I didn’t even know the guy and I was freaking out, thinking I needed to be responsible for his recovery and his health. I called 911, thinking to myself why the hell this happened, and how much I just wanted to enjoy the night getting to know him. Little did I know it was actually the beginning of our “trauma bond” as we like to call it, and here we are today. The very next day, I picked Brandon up from his house in crutches, and for some weird reason, we knew we were meant to be. We’ve been inseparable ever since and we inspire each other every day were together.

After countless experiences, good and bad moments together, on December 24th 2015, Brandon popped the question at the peak of this trail in Griffith Park we always hike to. It was probably the happiest moment Ive ever experienced… having the love of my life ask me to be his partner, his road dog, his best friend forever. It was unexpected, romantic, meaningful, and I’m so stoked about our love that I want everyone on Green Wedding Shoes to know about it!

Love, love, love it! Big thanks to these two cuties for sharing! Nisha + Brandon, we know you’re in for a life filled with lots of happiness and love!
