Otherworldly Anniversary Session at an Indigo Shibori Rock Quarry

Rock Quarry Anniversary Session

Ready for one of the most unique anniversary sessions we’ve ever seen? We believe the celebrations don’t have to end after the wedding. There’s *plenty* to celebrate after years of love, affection, arguments, LIFE, and everything that comes with spending years with your person. And the fun thing about marking anniversaries—whether it be a trip, a date, or a photo session—is that it’s an opportunity to go wildly outside-the-box. Enter Jordie + Trent, a creative couple from Nashville who found themselves in a dreamy. otherworldly location thanks to their photographer, Kaley from Kansas:

This 6-year-anniversary session was shot in Nashville, TN. It’s a private location—a rock quarry where I had planned on doing more of a tonal shoot. But when we drove up to it, there was blue salt over the mounds of rock and it looked like we were on Pluto! It was the coolest location I’ve seen. There were parts that were super blue and others where the white was showing through, it looked like tie-dye heaven! I called it an Indigo Dreamland. We were so blown away by this place!

Basically, if shibori were a location, it would be THIS:

Jordie + Trent

My husband Trent and I reside in booming Nashville, TN. We love it here SO much and its been home for me for almost 9 years now and almost 15 for Trent. The people here are the friendliest and living in the south is just really the best, in my opinion. I’m a photographer/videographer over at Alma Heirlooms and document families, births and babies…it’s the greatest job and Trent is a Creative Content Manager at a music label here in Nashville. We’re both pretty creative when it comes to work and we have a lot of fun collaborating with one another when it comes to design and photography. We’ve been married for a little over 6 years now and each year just gets sweeter and sweeter. We love doing life with one another.

Favorite Wedding Memory

There were so many sweet details, but I really loved our ceremony. It was really sweet, intimate and centered around family. Both of our dad’s spoke and read scripture. My uncle officiated us and my late grandfather closed out the ceremony with a beautiful prayer. I loved that they were all so involved and I love that we chose to keep our wedding guest list on the smaller side.

Favorite Anniversary So Far

Our 5-year anniversary, for sure! We spent it in Tulum, Mexico for a week and had the best time relaxing, sifting through old photos and reminiscing. Tulum is one of the coolest vacation destinations and we can’t wait to make it back there again! The food is fresh & out of this world delicious, the beaches are a dream and we loved riding our bikes up and down the strip, popping into shops and beautiful boutique hotels. Oh and tacos. All the tacos.

Happy Marriage Tips

  • Date each other often
  • Laugh… A LOT
  • Be quick to forgive
  • Don’t ever go to bed angry at one another
  • Just don’t sweat the small stuff that your spouse does that might annoy you. For me, that’s clothes on the floor, an unmade bed and dishes in the sink ;) It’s just not worth making a fuss over… ’cause in those first couple years of marriage, I definitely liked to make it known that I had a way of doing things, ha! So silly.
