Rebecca + Lucas are known for having reading dates. If they are driving in the car or just looking for a cheap date, they will read to one another. Cute in an endearing, quirky way, right?! So, the creative design team at Wednesday decided to play up the book theme when designing this budget conscious, DIY wedding. Almost every detail was hand crafted with book pages + fabric to add some cheeky character to the day. Thanks so much to ee photography for the lovely photos!
Almost everything leading up to Rebecca + Lucas’ wedding could have been considered less than ideal. Two months prior to the wedding they were venueless when the original venue double-booked. A month before the wedding they were holding their breath as an Oklahoma tornado came within two miles and destroyed houses near the new venue. The outdoor rehearsal dinner was nearly blown away by 40 MPH winds. The groom’s ring was nowhere to be found the day of the wedding. And to top it all off, unrelenting storms threatened to washout several months of tireless of planning. Yes, this could have been considered less than ideal, but Rebecca and Lucas laughed, smiled and were nothing short of content. How indicative of such a happy + loving marriage!
Most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We had a lot of funny and sweet moments from our wedding that I will never forget so it is hard to narrow it down to just one. To pick one, we chose to write our vows together. It was so meaningful to both of us to pledge our lives to each other with our own words and that is a feeling I will never forget.
Just loving all the book details! And aren’t the book planters below with succulents just the cutest?! Check back later today, for Wednesday ‘s DIY on how to create them yourself.
Any advice for those planning now?
Don’t lose the ring. Kidding, but really. Let yourself get lost in the significance of what your wedding day means, and don’t get bogged down in the little details and stressors of the day. Assign or hire someone else to worry about those things, and then release yourself from that pressure. At the end of the day, even if everything isn’t perfect, you are going to be married to the love of your life and that’s all that matters. Besides, the imperfections make for a great story and good laugh!
Our wedding was absolutely perfect for us and that was all thanks to my sister and brother-in-law at Wednesday. They planned everything to perfectly match our style and made our wedding beyond what we possibly could have imagined. They were so courteous of our budget, and proved that a great imagination, DIY-spirit and thriftiness can be stretched a long ways. I couldn’t have survived without the loving help from Jessica + Garett. Also, I could rave about Erin of ee photography until I’m blue in the face. Besides her incredible talent as a photographer, she is one of the most kind and genuine people I’ve ever met and puts people at ease with her sweet heart immediately.
Congrats to Rebecca + Lucas!

One of my absolute favorites. I love old books!
What a wonderful looking wedding!
Oh how lovely they made it (and even outside!) with the rough time they had. Looks like it didn’t deter anything too badly; it’s gorgeous.
Absolutely gorgeous wedding! Love all the little details!
Beautiful job Wednesday guys – lovely coordination of the stationery and floral arrangements. Looks beautiful and lovingly crafted. Helps that I adore books of course!

I get so excited when I see book-themed weddings! It makes me want to have another one with all of the details I never noticed for my first.
so cute they got married (ceremony) just outside the church! :)
Gorgeous!!! I love books. I’ll Love You Forever is a children’s book, but those words are so so sweet in the context of a wedding!
What a beautiful wedding…you’d never know to look at the event that they had had earlier setbacks with the venue! As it is, the lovely book-related details and the gorgeous old church really add to the personal and meaningful quality of these amazing pics…masterful photography! (the black and white photo of the kiss takes my breath away!)
so sweet that their wedding was so personalized. it looks like it fits them perfectly.
This is so creative, I really love how they incorporated something so important to the couple into every aspect of the wedding!
oh dear God,i’d cry happily looking at all these book details. so inspiring!
I love this couple’s story and look at the unique wedding their story brought to life…amazing and so personal.
My stomach dropped when I read that the venue was double booked! I love the Harn Homestead, but must say, the 2nd choice venue is GORGEOUS! I’m so proud to see an Oklahoma wedding on GWS. Here’s to a long, happy and blessed marriage to Rebecca & Lucas!
I really like the Who are you? wedding sign in frame idea. Had a similar idea for mine but didn’t have a clue of what to have guests write. What were the questions posed on yours? (if you don’t mind sharing), anyone have any ideas?
What’s not to love? Every little bit is so lovely! I especially love the fun and bright confetti!
Love all these pictures! Love the cake too! :)
Where is that church? I’m from Oklahoma, and I’m looking for somewhere to get married!
Brittany- It’s Chapel Creek Winery in El Reno, OK
Andrew is the guy in charge of it and was SO helpful through the entire process. It was a great place to get married!
I love the books idea
I love this so much! Are there any tutorials for the paper flowers and poms?
This post combines my two favorite things: weddings and books. I love it!

Hi all! Is there a page somewhere to see how the paper curtain was made? It seems like it’s just made of crumpled up pages from books, but that seems too simple… I know there are usually a lot of tricks behind little crafts like this :) Thanks!
The book planters are so creative, and I love the little paper finger puppet thingys (can’t remember what they’re called) – haven’t seen those since my childhood days in school. Thanks for the beautiful images to peruse
wish i could see what the ‘WHO ARE YOU’ asked of the guests…LOVE IT!
