We’ve seen our fair share of epic elopements here at GWS, but this one tops the charts!! Have you ever heard of Trolltunga in Norway? Nope? We hadn’t either, but the moment we saw the awe-inspiring view, we knew exactly why they chose it. The name, as you might have guessed, actually means ‘Troll Tongue’… The mountain slab hovers over a breathtaking view, however the hike is quite a rigorous climb at 14 hours. But Tim and Kylie were up for the challenge (and they each carried 35 pounds of gear, each!)
K+T were actually married a few years ago, but due to horrible weather and traditional formalities, their wedding didn’t turn out the way they wanted… So now, a few years later, they decided to remarry and document their love in their own way. Bringing their photographer, Priscila Valentina, along the three made the adventure up to Trolltunga for some of the most stunning photos we’ve ever seen:
WOW.
We asked these two to share a little about how the day went down… Because it took 14 hours to hike there!
They share: We actually all brought tents to spend the night in and hike back in the morning, but the weather got really ugly on us and it we had winds at over 20mph with tons of rain. By the time we made it back to our cars it was already dark. So, it was definitely one the most exhausting yet satisfying adventures of our lives that seems like a dream when I look back on it.
Priscila shares: Most of the hike was directly up hill and the couple climbed from stone to stone. Initially the weather was fine, but as we reached higher up the mountain we encountered rain and heavy winds. While we faced obstacles, we also experienced some of the richest beauty that nature offers with incredible waterfalls and epic views and a permanent smile on our faces throughout the whole trip.
When we finally reached the top of the mountain, Tim and Kylie set up their tent and while Tim changed outside, Kylie managed to nail her hair and makeup inside the tent. When she came out of the tent she stood there like a goddess on the edge of the cliff.
Are you kidding me, Kylie?! HOLY SMOKES!! We cannot get over that gorgeous Saldana Vintage dress.
Can you feel the magic?
Oh my goodness… The scenery, the groom’s suit, the bride’s dress, the feeling!
From the Groom: The most memorable part of the day was reaching the Trolltunga and seeing the most incredible view I have ever seen on earth. The hours of hiking were forgotten right when I saw the cliff and knowing we would be one of the first to have tied the knot there.
From the Bride: My most memorable part of the whole day was when I walked down the cliff to Tim and his reaction when he turned around and looked at me.
UM, that shot!!
The shoot concluded in the city of Bergen… The two danced around in their wedding ensembles and Priscila captured all the emotion, along with the vibrant character of the city.
TOO CUTE!!
Do not EVER compromise on your perfect wedding! Their are so many formalities that each of your families may demand but make room for you to make a stamp of your love by celebrating your dream wedding. Tim and I are motivated by this quote: “It’s not the years in your life that count; but it’s the life in your years” by Abraham Lincoln. Do you.
My advice for planning an elopement is to plan but definitely be open to change, for example, for weeks we checked the weather and it said it would be sunny but come the day of, and it rained. Again, go with the flow and don’t try to control everything.
Parting words from this dynamic duo: The last thing we would like to add is to just have real moments in life, don’t just copy something or someone, but be authentic. That’s what counts and those will be your greatest memories.
Way to go, you two! Cheers!!
