Moody + Intimate Colorado Mountain Wedding at the Historic Bread Bar

Intimate Colorado Wedding

On the outskirts of Georgetown, Colorado, is a tiny historic mountain town called Silver Plume. There, you’ll find a historic little white church, and a refurbished bar, known as The Bread Bar (you can probably guess that it was originally a bakery). As it happens, today’s bride and groom, Paige + Jake, spent many hours here when they were first dating. They envisioned getting married in the bar’s backyard, where the groom could perform songs on his guitar. Both the town and the venue were extremely cozy, and personal, so Kendra at Tandem Events made it happen.

Paige shares: Deciding on where to get married was likely the easiest decision, among so many decisions, that Jake and I made about our wedding. Without question, we picked the small ghost-town off Highway I-70 that had, for years, served as a resting place between mountain adventures, a source of rejuvenation away from the city, and an aspen-covered part of the country that kindled our creativity. Silver Plume, population 178, was even the inspiration behind a song Jake wrote well before our wedding—a song that his band Woodhouse recently recorded! It is a place of shared meaning.

Let’s head to the mountains in the photos snapped by Our Love is Loud, shall we?

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Karaoke! I used to live in China Town in NYC, where karaoke bars were on every block. While my (now) husband is the only talented singer between us, unabashedly singing karaoke is one of my favorite things. Two of my favorite memories of the night were Jake's friend Eric belting out Sexual Healing, as well as my normally-stoic older brother and my two childhood friends rapping to Snoop Dog's Gin & Juice. Wait! A third favorite karaoke memory was my youngest nephew singing Fight Song. Man, what a fun night.

It’s so important to find quiet moments for just the two of you to soak it all in.

P+J share: we intentionally sent our guests off after hugs and sharing of gratitude, and returned to the Bread Bar’s patio fire bowl with a bottle of champagne and gazed at the Rocky Mountain starry night from 9,000 ft. Beautiful. After, we retired to a former Knights of Pythias lodge turned AirBnB, just a few old-timey buildings down the dirt road from Bread Bar.

Guests were invited to travel by foot down through main street, through the tiny vintage shops, to the bar reception. They were greeted with signature drinks, an enormous charcuterie spread and relaxation on The Bread Bar’s signature back patio.

The Dinner

The night was crafted in farmhouse style, with personal wedding details around every corner. The clear tent was lit with a custom hanging installation, market lights and black tapper candles. Guests began a four course meal from Epicurean, with specialty bread and cinnamon butter, followed by a Colorado peach salad, an intermezzo, and their custom entree all served on specialty china.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make time to be alone with yourself and your partner on the day—time to breathe, time to give needed focus to the meaning and extraordinary relevance of this day, and time to be in it fully. And if you're spiritual or religious people—time to pray.

After dinner, the couple decided to rid traditional dancing, and replaced it with an evening of unforgettable karaoke sing-offs.

Basically, Paige + Jake are the COOLEST! Congratulations, you two!!
