Easy, simple and inviting were the key words Jac + Adrian initially threw around when thinking about their big day. And they already knew where they’d tie the knot before they knew any of the other details. Jac’s family cottage on Lake Simcoe in Toronto was the perfect place to throw a low-key, low-stress backyard wedding, that still had tons of style + personality. Color was key and the event design was a family affair: J + A, and their talented fam and friends designed, made and set everything up + we’d say the end result was totally flawless. Let’s hear what Jac has to say about it all:
Adrian and I are both inspired by clean, simple and crisp contemporary design so that is what set the stage for the day. Flowers were all white with lots of greenery as the backdrop. We had ferns EVERYWHERE! The food was incredible without being fussy. We are both creative people but didn’t feel that our wedding needed to be an exact representation of that! The main source of inspiration was geometric sculptures and ferns. We saw a painting (randomly) and were inspired by the lush organic nature contrasted with the sterile white geometric shapes.
Thanks so much to Heidi from Our Labor of Love for these beautiful photos + big congrats to the happy couple!
Major shoe envy for Jac’s perfect, gold Chloe heels!
Jac co-designed her wedding dress with Jim of Hoax Couture in Toronto. It’s so simply stunning…
Red, coral, and fuchsia perfection. This crew of ‘maids has totally won us over!

Our Vows. I was not expecting our ceremony to be the most wonderful part. It was beautiful. It was romantic. It was emotional. It was us. I walked down the aisle to 'Bossy' by Kelis which quickly turned into ‘Stay’ by Maurice Williams and the wedding party walked down the aisle to 'My Baby' by Nina Simone. We had a lovely reading by my aunt and our friend read a Mya Angelou poem. As we signed our papers, Adrian's best man and his brother sang 'First Day of our Life’ by Bright Eyes. For sure the entire ceremony was the most memorable.
And we adore the modern, graphic paper goods and signage. Jac + Adrian designed + printed everything themselves. (A’s an illustrator and J’s a designer.)
If something is stressing you out. Don’t do it. Take a step back and think about why you’re here in the first place. I’m sure everyone says it but NOTHING really matters but the two of you and your promise to each other. It may not make sense now but it will. Also, enjoy it. Take it all in and make time for just the two of you, that has nothing to do with wedding planning.

I love the colorful bridesmaids outfits, not to mention the fact that a few of them are pantsuits! Awesome :)
Everything about this wedding is fantastic. The bride’s dress is absolutely exquisite!
I have to know where the beautiful bridesmaid got her Orange long skirt and red top. The outfit is absolutely perfect!
The bright and bold colours definitely set the mood for this electric couple. Every detail absolutely pops against the blue sky and rolling landscape. A wedding that would certainly leaves an impression on any attendees!
